CJ Parent Weekly

Department News   |   Calendar   |   Reminders   |   Youth Programs   |   Parish Bulletin

Greetings!

Bring your family, a blanket or lawn chair, and a whole lot of CJ spirit and 'Meet the Eagles' next Thursday night as we introduce our fall sport student-athletes, cheerleaders and band members at 7 p.m. on Blue Green Field.

You won't want to miss this annual community pep rally. Eagles fans will have the opportunity to purchase Student and Adult Activity Passes -- good for admission to CJ athletic and cultural events during the 2012-13 school year -- beginning August 16.

New this year, pass holders may now redeem tickets for away GCL football and men's basketball games during advanced ticket sales in the CJ athletic office. Once redeemed, away tickets are valid only for the upcoming contest immediately following the date of retrieval.

As always, passes will also be accepted at all home football, volleyball, soccer, wrestling and basketball games as well as CJ theater productions. Student passes cost $60 and admit one student, while adult passes cost $180 and admit the pass holder plus up to one guest.

Take advantage of this tremendous value and use your pass for admission at 30 Eagles athletic contests this fall.

Go Eagles!

Lucas Pfander Memorial Alumni Race - VIVA LA VIDA

Saturday, August 11  |  6:30 p.m.  |  CJ

Families and runners of all ages are invited! Registration begins at 6 p.m. and the two-mile run/walk for elementary students (grades K-8) begins at 6:30 p.m. The second race for all other participants immediately follows the first race. There is no entry fee, though donations will be accepted to benefit the Lucas Pfander Scholarship.

The Lucas Pfander Scholarship is awarded to a rising CJ senior who exemplifies the traits of Lucas Pfander, who passed away on July 11, 2008 -- a month prior to the start of his senior year. While at CJ, Lucas was an honor student who had completed 150 hours of community service, had perfect attendance, and participated in a sport every season.

If you cannot join us, we encourage you to download a Virtual Race bib and walk or run for Lucas from wherever you happen to be that day.

Jama Badinghaus

Jama Badinghaus

Jama Badinghaus is starting her third year at Chaminade Julienne this fall. She was hired to implement the City Connects program as the student support coordinator in 2010 and was happy to join the team in the guidance office when the two offices merged in 2011. Jama is currently the LIFE group moderator and serves on the Admissions Committee and Marianist Integration Team (MIT). In her two summers at CJ, Jama has enjoyed joining the students on mission trips to Indiana and Belize.

Jama grew up in Anderson, Indiana. She attended the University of Dayton where she earned her bachelor's degree in psychology and her master's degree in school counseling. Throughout her time in school she was able to work for several area non-profits including Catholic Social Services, East End Community Center, and the Montgomery County Juvenile Court Building Bridges program.

Jama and her husband Andy, a current University of Cincinnati graduate student in urban planning, met at UD and were married in 2009. They are both Lay Marianists and currently live in an intentional community in east Dayton. Their free time is often spent enjoying metroparks and festivals, watching independent films, and helping with operations of the Mission of Mary Farm, an urban garden started by young adult Marianists
