Greetings!
Thanks for staying connected to CJ this summer through the Parent Weekly. Please note, these three items may affect your newsletter in the weeks that follow.
Let us Hear from You: Help us improve the Parent Weekly by taking this short survey. Because of your input last year, we featured a member of our faculty and staff in each issue for the 2011-12 school year, so we value your thoughts and opinions!
ATTN Class of 2012 Parents: We will begin updating mailing lists starting in July. Parents of graduated seniors (who do not have other children enrolled at CJ) will no longer receive the Parent Weekly starting August 2; however, we will continue to keep you connected to the community through monthly updates. You always have the option to opt out of these send-outs. If you have any questions, please contact Drew Reeder, assistant communications coordinator, at areeder@cjeagles.org.
No Mailing Next Week: Due to Independence Day next Wednesday, there will be no Parent Weekly issued Thursday, July 5. Weekly delivery will begin again on July 12. If you missed a mailing of our weekly newsletter, need to reference past issues, or would like to refer a new subscriber, please take advantage of the Parent Weekly archive at cjeagles.org.
Sincerely,
Tina Wagoner, Communications | email

Featured Faculty & Staff Member
Jim Brooks
Jim is a graduate of Alter High School, Ohio University and the University of Dayton (M.A. English 1986). After college he spent 3 ½ years in the Peace Corps in Korea teaching English as a second language at the middle school and college levels. He also ran weekly workshops for Korean English teachers to help them improve their language and teaching skills. After his Peace Corps experience, Jim joined the Marianists and lived in community for eight years as an aspirant, novice, and temporary-professed brother.
Jim started teaching English at CJ in 1980 and has just completed his 32nd year in the department. He believes that a wide range of reading and writing experiences will prepare students for higher education and all walks of life. In addition to teaching Honors English 9, European Authors, and CP English 11, he also teaches Creative Writing and helps students to publish In Our Minds, the annual writing and art anthology which showcases the work of CJ students. He, too, enjoys writing and has published numerous poems, articles and essays, and he encourages his students to do the same. Many of them have won writing contests over the years at the local, state and national levels.
Jim believes firmly in teachers teaching other teachers and was involved for many years in the Ohio Writing Project at Miami University getting teachers to do just that while pursuing their own personal writing projects. Along those lines, he finds his wife of 25 years, Peg Reagan '73 and teacher of Spanish at CJ, to be his greatest inspiration, along with his two daughters Colleen '10 and Carmen '11, college students at the University of Cincinnati and St. Mary's University respectively. Jim also coaches both the boys' and girls' tennis teams and is tremendously proud of the new tennis facility, the Eagle Tennis Center.
Visit Jim's web page at cjeagles.org to learn more.
