Greetings!

   

Have you heard what all the buzz is about? For the first time ever, Chaminade Julienne will welcome back hundreds of alumni at once for Reunion Weekend, held on campus next Friday and Saturday, June 15 -16. 

 

To make this massive community celebration a success, we need a little help from friends and current CJ families like you. The festivities begin Friday morning with a golf outing followed by our evening kick-off event, a Taste of CJ, on Blue Green Field. On Saturday, activities include tennis matches, a special luncheon, a family fun gathering and a concluding Mass. 

 

The alumni office seeks parent-volunteers to serve as:

  • greeters (Friday and Saturday) 
  • parking attendants (Friday night) 
  • food and beverage runners (Friday night), and 
  • Liturgy helpers (Saturday afternoon) 

All volunteers receive a free Reunion Weekend t-shirt for helping out, and will have the opportunity to meet and mingle with alumni ranging in graduation years from 1947 to 2007!

Men's Cross Country 

Conditioning begins Monday, July 2 at Triangle Park (directions) from 7 to 8:15 p.m. If you have any questions or an interest in joining the team, please email Ken Spitzig, head coach.

 

Women's Volleyball

Reunion Weekend 2012  -  NEXT WEEKEND

Lucas Pfander Memorial Alumni Race

Saturday, August 11  |  6:30 p.m.  |  CJ

Families and runners of all ages are invited! Registration begins at 6 p.m. and the two-mile run/walk for elementary students (grades K-8) begins at 6:30 p.m. The second race for all other participants immediately follows the first race. There is no entry fee, though donations will be accepted to benefit the Lucas Pfander Scholarship.

 

The Lucas Pfander Scholarship is awarded to a rising CJ senior who exemplifies the traits of Lucas Pfander, who passed away on July 11, 2008 -- a month prior to the start of his senior year. While at CJ, Lucas was an honor student who had completed 150 hours of community service, had perfect attendance, and participated in a sport every season.

Marianist Student Home-Stay

The office of ministry and service is looking for CJ families interested in hosting one to two students from Marianist high schools in Argentina and Peru during one night this summer.

 

Each host family would provide a place for these international students to stay over night from 12:30 p.m. on Saturday July 21 until after 10 a.m. Mass on Sunday, July 22. During the day Saturday, CJ host students and visiting students will perform service at sites around the Dayton area. The weekend will end after a cookout for the students and their host families after Sunday Mass. The students from Argentina and Peru will be visiting the University of Dayton through the Center for International Programming (CIP). Download more information on the CIP >

American Testing Services Open House - You're Invited 

American Testing Services of Dayton, a CJ STEMM partner, is hosting its 10th anniversary celebration Thursday, June 21 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dan Reynolds, Technical Sales rep there, invites CJ students and families to attend this Open House and see exciting technologies at work. 

  

The company is a leader in the areas of metallurgical analysis, non-destructive testing, and calibration, has sponsored and mentored our CJ XtremeBots robotics student teams since 2010.

Due to a scheduling conflict, the guidance office is rescheduling the date of the mandatory Senior eDocs / Transcript College Application workshop to Wednesday, September 5 from 8 to 9:30 a.m. ( it was previously scheduled for September 12). All seniors are required to be in attendance.

 

Note: The parent informational meeting has been pushed back one day to Tuesday, September 11. Any parent or student who was unable to attend the spring meeting should plan to meet in the library from 6:30 to 8 p.m. New and updated information will be available in the fall for anyone interested.

First Annual St. Peter Panther Prowl 
Saturday, June 23   |  8:30 a.m.  |  St. Peter School

The St. Peter Athletic Committee will be holding the First Annual Panther Prowl, a 5k run/walk and a 1-mile fun run, as part of the St. Peter Festival. The 1-mile will start at 8:30 a.m. and the 5k will start at 9:00 a.m. Both will start in front of St. Peter School (directions).   

 

Pre-registration is $15 with a moisture wicking t-shirt (5K or 1-mile) or $25 w/shirt for both races. For more information, please email Pam Ranly at stpeter.track@gmail.com or call 235-3470. Ann Moore Szabo '72 

Ann Szabo

Ann is in her fifth year working in the

alumni and development office at CJ. She has also served as the Freshman Student Council moderator for the last three years and truly enjoys meeting new students and helping them adjust to CJ.

 

Ann is a 1972 Julienne High School alumna and a graduate of the University of Dayton, where she earned her degree in social work. She married Chuck Szabo (CHS '72) in 1977 and is the proud mother of six CJ graduates: Charlie '98, John '00, Robert '02, Michael '05, Joe '08 and Tim '11.

 

Since her freshman year at Julienne, Ann has coached many sports, including cheerleading at Corpus Christi. She recently retired from her involvement with athletics, which included serving on the CYO board two years ago. Over the years, she was also involved in other parish and school groups as well as her neighborhood association.

 

Ann has been involved in planning her reunions for 40 years, and says she is especially excited about this year's Reunion Weekend festivities coming up on Friday and Saturday, June 15-16. More grads are expected to attend than ever before! Ann thanks her co-worker Caitlin Cronin Bennett, alumni relations coordinator, for all her hard work organizing this exciting new tradition for CJ alumni.
