Greetings!

As the Lenten Season nears its close, we wish you and your family many Easter blessings this weekend while gathering to celebrate the resurrection of Our Lord and Savior.

Let us rejoice in His peace and respond to His call as we move forward together through the remaining weeks of the 2011-2012 school year.

Grant us a vision, Lord

to see what we can achieve

to reach out beyond ourselves

to share our lives with others

to stretch our capabilities

to increase our sense of purpose

to be aware of where we can help

to be sensitive to your Presence

to give heed to your constant call.

Featured Faculty & Staff Member

Marilyn McCrate

Marilyn McCrate Since joining the CJ community 14 years ago, Marilyn has enjoyed spending half her time teaching religion classes and the rest of the school day in the ministry and service office helping plan and implement retreats, liturgies, and service activities. She loves being part of both departments because she gets to know students as freshmen and then has the opportunity to stay connected to them the next three years through ministry and service activities.

Before CJ, Marilyn worked as a counselor in a prison, as a rehabilitation counselor for the state, at a domestic violence shelter, as a prevention educator at the elementary school level, and was the director of religious education for her parish.

Marilyn and her husband Tom have three sons and three grandchildren. They both have strong Marianist connections. Tom graduated from Chaminade in St. Louis, they met at UD, have been members of the Marianist parish, Queen of Apostles for 34 years, and they belong to a lay Marianist community.

Marilyn's personal dream for CJ is to build a community garden with the help of her son Colin, an urban farmer. Colin recently published a book on the subject for home gardening beginners titled Food Grown Right, in Your Backyard.
