Greetings!

 

Parents of returning students are reminded that registration packets and fees are due to the business office by Thursday, March 8. Materials were sent home with students February 3 and are also available here at cjeagles.org.  

 

It is important to return all packet materials and fees before the March 8 deadline. After March 8, CJ will assess a $150 re-enrollment fee, in addition to the $150 registration fee, for a total of $300. Your student may also be placed on a space-available wait list.

  • On Tuesday, CJ welcomed a guest presenter from Uganda, who shared his personal story with CJ religion students in the chapel to illustrate a lesson on social justice and human rights. View story >

fryCJ Fish Fry is Looking for YOU! 

The Blue Green Club is asking parents to help make the CJ Fish Fry a success on Saturday, March 10. About 10 to 12 volunteers are still needed to fill shifts between 6 and 11 p.m. Those interested should contact Lenise Knight at bit0508@hotmail.com or 321-8824. 

 

Donations for the silent auction are still being accepted. To donate, email Sherry Kroger at tmk564@aol.com.

 

Tickets to the CJ Fish Fry are available now in the athletic office for $12 pre-sale (or $15 at the door). Volunteers will need to purchase a ticket.

Final Ski Trip to Perfect North

The CJ Ski and Snowboard Club will be skiing for the fourth and final time Friday, March 2. As Perfect North will close at 9:30 p.m. due to spring hours, we will be home by 11 p.m. instead of the usual time of 12:30 a.m.

Belize Summer Mission Trip Mandatory Meeting

AP Test Fees  -  DUE TODAY 

AP testing fees and forms are due today. After the March 1 deadline, a late fee of $25 per test will be assessed.

ATHLETICS

busStudent Spirit Bus  -  SIGN UP FRIDAY 

All students are invited to ride the Spirit Bus to Mason High School on Friday, March 2, where the Eagles will play Talawanda for the district championship at 5 p.m. The bus will leave from parking lot C at 3:45 p.m.

 

Students must turn in a signed permission slip and the $8 fee at lunch periods Friday, March 2. The cost includes a ticket to the game plus pizza and drinks, which will be available in the cafeteria before departure. Everyone is encouraged to wear blue in support of the Eagles!

Women's Soccer Informational Meeting March 6 

There will be an informational meeting on Tuesday, March 6 at 3:30 p.m. in room 104 (located next door to the athletic office) for all returning players and any incoming freshmen who can attend. The meeting will conclude by 4:30 p.m.

 

The meeting agenda will include the following:

  • Introductions

  • Determining a conditioning and lifting schedule beginning the week of March 12th through the end of April

  • Distributing the pre-season soccer schedule (June and July)

  • Discussing the options for preseason tournaments

Wrestling State Championships 

Thursday - Saturday, March 1-3  |  Columbus, Ohio 

After the team advanced five to the district tournament, Eagles sophomore wrestler Lyle Plummer qualified to compete in the state tournament beginning Thursday, March 1 at Ohio State University's Jerome Schottenstein Center (directions). Doors open at 2 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Ticket can be purchased beginning at 8 a.m. each day.

Freshmen Retreat

Parents should have received a letter with more information last week. This required retreat takes place on CJ's campus and focuses on the reverence for self, others and God.

College Admissions Panel Q&A for Parents March 5 

On Monday, March 5 at 7 p.m., college admissions counselors from Indiana University, Miami University, Ohio University, Ohio State University, the University of Cincinnati and the University of Dayton will discuss an array of topics about the college application and admissions process in a question-and-answer format.  

 

The event is designed for parents of freshmen, sophomores and juniors and will be held in the Oakwood High School auditorium (directions). We are grateful for these universities sharing their guidance with our families and to the people at Oakwood High School for sponsoring the event.

Knights of Columbus Lenten Dinner

Fridays in March  |  5:30 to 7 pm  |  Marian Manor

The Knights of Columbus #3754 will host a lenten dinner every Friday in March at Marian Manor (directions), with rosary beginning at 5 p.m. Adults cost $7, children under 12 cost $4 and families cost $20.

 

The dinner menu includes fried fish, baked fish, fries, baked potato, salad, cole slaw and applesauce. Desserts are available for $.50 while they last.

Youth Retreat Weekend: Theology of the Body

Mike Hoendorf '03

Mike Hoendorf Mike Hoendorf is in his third full year at Chaminade Julienne. He serves as a substitute teacher and helps with facilities. Mike has also served as a JV baseball assistant coach and a JV softball head coach. Mike is the oldest child in a family of Eagles (Don '72, Pat '73, Katie '07, Marlena '10, and Stephen '16) and is very happy to be back serving the green and blue.

 

After graduating from CJ in 2003, Mike attended Wright State University, where he received his bachelor's degree in business management and marketing. Mike then went on to coach baseball at the University of Dayton, where he helped lead the Flyers to their first and only Atlantic 10 championship.

 

When Mike is away from CJ, you can find him at the Dayton Baseball Academy giving hitting and catching lessons. He looks forward to instructing players in grades 4 through 6 at CJ's new youth baseball summer camp in July.
