CJ Parent Weekly

Community Update   |   Department News   |   Calendar   |   Reminders   |   Online Spirit Store

Greetings!

Happy New Year and welcome back as we embark on another year together at the home of the Eagles on the corner of Franklin and Ludlow Streets. Your next opportunity to come spend some time at CJ in 2012 is just around the corner with our upcoming monthly parent meetings.

Join me and fellow CJ parents at the Blue Green Club, Co-Educators and Parents of Performing Arts Students (POPS) meetings. Gatherings are held once each month to discuss, plan and coordinate activities aimed at enhancing the student experience at CJ.

Parents of Performing Arts Students (POPS)

TONIGHT, Jan. 5  |  7 p.m.  |  Music room

Meetings are generally held on the first Thursday of each month.

Blue Green Club

Mon., Jan. 9  |  6 p.m.  |  Room 104

Meetings are generally held on the first Monday of each month, one hour prior to the Co-Educators.

Co-Educators

Mon., Jan. 9  |  7 p.m.  |  Library

Meetings are generally held on the first Monday of each month.

Get off to a great start this calendar year with the Eagle Parents, or if you can't make it, share with us how you'd like to get involved by submitting an Eagle Parent Volunteer form at cjeagles.org.

For next week you'll want to be aware that neighboring Sinclair Community College is beginning a new quarter, and with it, will have an influx of new students commuting to classes. Expect an increase in the amount of traffic on the streets and thoroughfares surrounding CJ's campus and plan your commute to school accordingly.

To lessen the impact to CJ and ensure student safety, we have been working with Sinclair's campus police department to  prepare for the increased traffic. During the month of January, officers from Sinclair will be monitoring cars parking in our Lot D located off Longworth Street. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.

God bless,

STUDENT LIFE

Reminder for Parents of Kairos Retreat Participants

If your student is signed up to attend the January Kairos retreat (view list of participants) and will need to take medication while they are gone, please have your doctor complete an Authorization for School Personnel Administration of Medication Form and return it to the nurse's office by Wednesday, Jan. 18. You will need one form for each medication that the student will need to take.

Authorization from your doctor is required for all medications, even if they are over-the-counter and all medications are required to be kept by staff. Students are not allowed to carry or self-administer their own medications unless it is an asthma inhaler or epi-pen, in which case an Authorization for Self-Carry Administration of Medication form must be on file with the nurse. Please refer to the Medication Administration during Overnight School Trips Procedure or contact Tere McDonald (email) at 461.3740  x227 with any questions.

All health forms and procedures are available from the CJ Health Clinic Web pages under the Student Life tab.
