Community Updates  |  Dept. News  |  PSAS  Calendar  Reminders  PARENT MEETINGS

Greetings!

As the winter athletic season gets underway, parents are reminded that the $75 participation fee is due to the athletic office by tomorrow, Friday, Dec. 2.

Competition for many CJ teams begins this week and we look forward to supporting our Eagles alongside the enthusiastic members of our community at these upcoming games and matches:

  • On Saturday, Dec. 3, the swim team competes in the Waynesville Invitational starting at 8 a.m. at Wright State University (directions).
  • The wrestling team also opens the season Saturday morning in the Janet LaForce Memorial Tournament at Franklin High School (directions) at 9:30 a.m.
  • The men's and women's basketball teams will host a Saturday day-night home-opening doubleheader in the main gym.
    • The women's team plays Centerville starting with the  freshmen at 10 a.m., followed by the JV at 11:30 a.m. and the varsity at 1 p.m.
    • The men's basketball season tips off against Greeneview with the freshmen at 4:30 p.m., the JV at 6 p.m. and the varsity at 7:30 p.m. Pre-sale tickets will be on sale during lunch and after school Thursday and Friday. Cost is $6 for adults and $4 for students.

Finally on Sunday, Dec. 4, help us officially conclude the fall athletic season at the Regional Finals Celebration. All are invited to this 4 p.m. ceremony in the auditorium, where CJ will celebrate the members of our football, volleyball, and cheerleading teams along with our trainers, who extended their season with regional finals appearances and, as a result, were not recognized at the fall sports banquet.

Thank you for your continued support of all our student-athletes.

GO EAGLES!

Attention Parents of Junior Retreat Participants

If your student is signed up to attend the December junior retreat (view list of participants) and will need to take medication while they are gone, please have your doctor complete an Authorization for School Personnel Administration of Medication Form and return it to the nurse's office by Monday, Nov. 28. You will need one form for each medication that the student will need to take.

Authorization from your doctor is required for all medications, even if they are over-the-counter and all medications are required to be kept by staff. Students are not allowed to carry or self-administer their own medications unless it is an asthma inhaler or epi-pen, in which case an Authorization for Self-Carry Administration of Medication form must be on file with the nurse. Please refer to the Medication Administration during Overnight School Trips Procedure or contact the school nurse at 461.3740  x227 with any questions.

All health forms and procedures are available from the CJ Health Clinic Web pages under the Student Life tab.

Meg Draeger

Meg Draeger is completing her third year at CJ, and enjoying it. Although a native New Yorker, she is a natural Midwesterner, as her parents and older sisters were born in Chicago, and her husband, Kendall, is from Kansas.

Twelve years of a Catholic education in a New York city suburb, and working at a Sisters of Mercy convent switchboard while at an affiliated all-girls high school, solidified her faith and wholehearted belief in the value of a Catholic education. Active involvement with, and living at, the Newman Center at the University of Illinois -- the third in the nation, and, to this day, the only one with a student residence hall -- strengthened her faith.

Prior to coming to CJ, Meg worked as an engineer at NCR, Bethesda Hospital/TriHealth, and Sinclair Community College. She has developed a passion for exposing K-12 students, especially girls, to the exciting world of STEMM.

Her spare time, when not taxi-ing her two teen-aged daughters around, is filled with a daily Sudoku puzzle, a constant supply of library books, baking and cooking, "grazing" all day long on snacks (especially sweets), too infrequently playing the piano, and her latest hobby, paper-making.

For more about Meg, visit her Web page here at cjeagles.org >
