November 23, 2011  -  Wishing You a Blessed Thanksgiving

CJ Parent Weekly

Community Updates   |   Updates   |   Calendar   |   Reminders   |   Parent Meetings

Greetings!

Due to the tremendous generosity of many of our students, parents, faculty and staff during Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week, CJ was able to raise more than $3,100 and collect approximately 2,000 non-perishable items for service agencies November 14-21, 2011.

The Eagles have more than surpassed our combined school goal, and in doing so, have earned a day off later this year; more importantly, however, the efforts of our community will assist thousands of people in need at a time when they need help the most.

Thank you to everyone who contributed this week by sending in donations, bagging lunches in the cafeteria and helping to feed the hungry in the Dayton area and beyond.

Keeping in mind the lessons of Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week, we share this Thanksgiving blessing -- an adaptation of the Marianist Mission's Prayer of Thanks -- with you and your family before gathering to give thanks and praise:

Gracious God, once again this Thanksgiving holiday reminds us of the many blessings we receive from You. We thank You for the gifts of family, friends and for the food You put before us. Bless all we receive so that it uplifts our hearts, minds, spirits and bodies to do Your will.

We raise up to You all people in the world, especially those who are poor, hungry, homeless and downtrodden. May the grace we have received through You lead us to reach out in service to these and to all Your people.

We say our prayer in the name of Jesus, our Lord and brother, Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen.

During this time of thanks, we hold in our hearts the memory of all loved ones who have passed or fallen ill, we pray for the safe return of the students and families traveling this holiday season, and we wish everyone a blessed Thanksgiving.

Sincerely,

John Marshall, principal, and the CJ Community

Attention Parents of Junior Retreat Participants

If your student is signed up to attend the December junior retreat (view list of participants) and will need to take medication while they are gone, please have your doctor complete an Authorization for School Personnel Administration of Medication Form and return it to the nurse's office by Monday, Nov. 28. You will need one form for each medication that the student will need to take.

Authorization from your doctor is required for all medications, even if they are over-the-counter and all medications are required to be kept by staff. Students are not allowed to carry or self-administer their own medications unless it is an asthma inhaler or epi-pen, in which case an Authorization for Self-Carry Administration of Medication form must be on file with the nurse. Please refer to the Medication Administration during Overnight School Trips Procedure or contact the school nurse at 461.3740  x227 with any questions.

All health forms and procedures are available from the CJ Health Clinic Web pages under the Student Life tab.
