Don't miss your chance to meet fellow parents and make an impact on the Catholic educational experience at CJ by attending the November Eagle Parent meetings this week and next.

 

CJ's three dedicated Eagle Parent groups, the Blue Green Club, Co-Educators and Parents of Performing Arts Students (POPS) meet once each month to discuss, plan and coordinate activities aimed at enhancing the opportunities available to students. Learn more by attending one of these upcoming meetings:

Fall Play Still in Need of Props 

The propmaster forThe Seussification of Romeo and Juliet is in search of the following items for props:

  • toy xylophone
  • two old bicycles that can be taken apart
  • newscaster microphones
  • a bike size blinking light
  • a sunbathing chair
  • a completely or partially bald cap/wig

Tuition Assistance Help Session  

Thursday, November 3  |  6 pm  |  Library 

This information session is to assist parents in completing PSAS applications for the 2012-13 school year. Applications were distributed to current CJ students in homeroom on Friday, October 7.  All families are encouraged to apply.

 

To be considered for tuition assistance, applications and documentation must be submitted to PSAS by December 1, 2011. The application is available here at cjeagles.org, and electronic applications can be sent directly to PSAS by visiting psas.org.

CJ Volleyball vs. Athens H.S. - REGIONALS

The girls will compete for a spot in the Regional finals against Athens H.S. at Wilmington High School (directions). Pre-sale tickets are available in the athletic office for $6 and will cost $8 at the game.

CJ STEMM Enrichment Experience Opportunity

Friday, November 4  |  9 to 11 am

High school students are invited to the Dayton Engineer's Club to hear from the three newest members of the Engineering and Science Hall of Fame (or their representative).  

 

Discussions will center around the speakers' famous inventions and how they came about. This is an excellent Enrichment Experience opportunity for students interested in a science or engineering career field. More info >

CJ Varsity Football vs. Westfall - PLAYOFFS 

Saturday, November 5  |   7 pm  |   Westfall HS 

The Eagles play Westfall in the opening round of the Division IV playoffs at Westfall High School (directions). 

 

Pre-sale tickets are on sale in the athletic office for $7 and will cost $9 at the gate. Westfall will be charging $2 for parking.

Out of Uniform Day

Out of uniform passes will be sold for $1 during homeroom. Please adhere to the guidelines listed on page 41 of the Student Handbook.

 

All the proceeds collected from each of CJ's out of uniform days go towards supporting CJ clubs and groups including National Honor Society, Key Club, Ministry and Service, and the senior class.

Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week

November 14-18, 2011

This annual event, held the first full week prior to Thanksgiving, is dedicated to bringing awareness to CJ about hunger and homelessness issues in the local community, nation and world. All members of the school community are encouraged to choose at least one way to become involved in the plight of others who need our help.

High School Placement Test

Saturday, November 19  |  8 am to noon  |  Cafeteria

The HSPT is recommended by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati and required by CJ for admission and Catholic scholarship consideration. Parents can register online at cjeagles.org, or by calling Jeanne Sptizig at 461.3740 x249. 

 

The cost is $30. Students should bring payment with them the day of the test.

March For Life
CJ students will travel with students from Carroll High School to Washington D.C. to participate in the annual March for Life. Participants will leave on Friday afternoon, January 20 and return in the early morning on Tuesday, January 24. While in Washington, we will participate in the National Students for Life Conference and visit the Holocaust Museum as well as the recently opened Martin Luther King Memorial.

The cost for the trip is $280. Students can obtain an information packet from their religion teachers or from Karen Emmerich in room 045. A deposit is due by Wednesday, November 11.

Holy Trinity's Old Fashioned Holiday Bazaar

Saturday, Nov. 5  |  9 am to 4 pm  |  Holy Trinity

Hosted at Holy Trinity Parish (directions), the bazaar will include crafts, silent auction, raffles, Tyke Shop, cabbage rolls, lunch, baked goods and a book sale. Santa will also be visiting so bring your children.

28th Annual Harvest of Values Bazaar

Nicole Will

Nicole Will Nicole Will is in her first year at Chaminade Julienne as a guidance counselor and feels extremely fortunate to work in such a friendly and supportive environment. She immediately fell in love with the school for its rich heritage and caring community.

 

Originally from the Cleveland area, Nicole graduated from Mentor High School in 2004 and continued on to Ohio University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and graduated in 2008. Nicole then moved to Dayton where she began her Masters of Education program in school counseling at Wright State University.

 

For the past three years Nicole has worked at Oakwood High School where she was a substitute teacher and cheerleading adviser. Nicole also completed her practicum and internship experience at Oakwood in the guidance office.

 

Nicole is newly married, and her husband Chip is also in the education field as a math teacher and coach at Beavercreek High School.  When not at work, Nicole enjoys watching sports, especially football, playing with her dog Rascal, and spending time with friends and family.
