CJ Parent Weekly

Community Update  |  Updates  Calendar  Reminders  Parent Meetings  |  Youth Programs

Greetings!

It's hard to believe, but Homecoming Weekend is here! Students, faculty and staff have already enjoyed celebrating their CJ spirit this week, and this evening we celebrate the induction of four new members into the Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame at NCR Country Club. Congratulations to all awardees, including English teacher, tennis coach and honorary alumnus Jim Brooks.

Tomorrow afternoon, the Eagles will conclude the week's in-school festivities with a Pep Rally in the gym, but the fun is just getting started. We invite everyone to get involved in the excitement of Spirit Week at one of these upcoming community activities planned -- there's something for the whole family!

  • Friday night is the Homecoming football game, complete with performances by the alumni band and Eagle Pep Band. Join us for the 7:30 p.m. match up against Badin at West Carrollton Senior High, and come out early to enjoy burgers, brats and hot dogs at the parents' weekly tailgate. -- Learn more >
  • On Saturday, CJ students and their dates will be in the gym from 9 p.m. to midnight at the Homecoming Dance. This year's theme is Red Carpet Romance. If you are interested in helping with the dance by serving as a parent-chaperone, please contact Angela Ruffolo. -- Learn more >

Fall is filled with all kinds of community events at CJ, so be sure to frequently browse our online school calendars for the dates and details of approaching campus activities!

Vision for Catholic Schools

For the past several months, an effort has been underway to establish a common vision for the future of Catholic school education in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. During the 2010-2011 school year, large amounts of data were collected on the current state of our Catholic schools. This data has been compiled in an initial assessment report that will be presented by Dr. Jim Rigg, superintendent of Catholic schools, and will include key data regarding Catholic identity, academic excellence, demographics, finances, and other areas.

The presentations are open to the public and will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the following high schools: October, 4: Chaminade Julienne; October 6: Roger Bacon; and Oct. 11: Lehman. All are welcome to attend. For more information, visit www.catholiccincinnati.org/education/lighting_the_way.

Recycle Your Paper At CJ

Did you know you can help CJ earn money just by recycling? Place your newspapers, magazines, shopping catalogs, office and school papers, and mail in our green and yellow Abitibi Paper Retriever located in parking lot A. Most paper can be recycled, but do not include cardboard and phone books.

By recycling paper, not only do you save water and energy, but our school earns money for every pound of paper you help us collect. The money earned then goes to support the continued recycling efforts of the Environmental Club. If you have questions, email club moderators Amy O'Loughlin or Laurie Eloe. Thanks for supporting this student endeavor!
