CJ Parent Weekly

Community Update   |   Updates   |   Calendar   |   Reminders

Greetings!

We had a wonderful time working with parents Tuesday evening at Meet the Teachers Night. On behalf of the entire faculty and staff, the guidance department thanks all who were able to set aside time to visit with us at CJ.

If you were unable to stop by, or missed us in the office, don't worry; there will be plenty of opportunities this fall to meet with counselors and learn more about the ways in which we plan to serve students and families. For all the latest information from the guidance office, we recommend you stay tuned to the Parent Weekly every Thursday; frequently browse the guidance pages at cjeagles.org (make it a bookmark today!); and be sure to save these first semester dates on your calendar:

  • College Help Sessions - Most Wednesdays, starting September 14 at 3:15 p.m. in room 126, for students and families (check the school calendar for a complete listing of dates, times and locations). Students must sign up for these help sessions in the guidance office.
  • Family Connection Night - Wednesday, October 5 starting at 6:30 p.m. in the library. Learn about this online tool students and parents can use to discover careers, colleges, and more.
  • Parent-Teacher Conferences - Tuesday, October 25 from 4 to 6 p.m. This is an early dismissal day for students with school ending at noon.
  • College Financial Aid Presentation -Wednesday, December 7 at 6:30 p.m. Guest speaker Matt Moore from Miami University will discuss the financial aid process, as well as FAFSA, for seniors and their parents.

Families are also encouraged to supplement these face-to-face sessions by exploring our online resources, Family Connection and NetClassroom. Sophomores, juniors and seniors should have already received their passwords. Freshmen will receive log-in information upon meeting with their counselor, and meetings should be completed by the end of September.

If you are having trouble accessing these tools, or have other questions and concerns, do not hesitate to contact us.

GO EAGLES!

Return Retreat Forms to Ministry and Service

After Monday, August 29, all juniors and seniors will have received information and registration forms regarding junior retreat and senior Kairos. In order to successfully return forms to the office of ministry and service, students need to select their preferred retreat dates, sign the form and have a parent sign.

Kairos retreat forms are due back by Tuesday, August 30 and junior retreat forms are due back to by Friday, September 2.  Every student must return a form to ministry and service even if he/she does not plan to attend a retreat.

Student Parking Update
There are a limited amount of student parking passes still available for the 2011-12 school year. All remaining passes admit students to park in the lot next to the Student Conditioning Center only. These passes may be purchased on a first-come, first-serve basis in the office of student services for $50.

Thank you for your patience as we work with our neighbors, the Marianist Mission and Emmanuel Church, to adjust to our new shared parking arrangements. Remember to refrain from parking in any spot marked "MISSION" or "EM" in Lot C during school hours.

A Message from the Health Clinic
All Emergency Medical Forms must be on file by Wednesday, August 31. Please return completed forms as soon as possible. Students who have not done so may be excluded from school beginning Thursday, September 1.

CJ also requires that all Immunization Records be on file by Monday, September 8. Letters will be mailed home next week to families who still need to submit these records.

If your son or daughter needs medicine during school or sports/extracurricular activities, it is required that he or she submit a physician's order to the Health Clinic. The only medications that students are authorized to carry and self-administer are emergency medications such as epi-pens and inhalers, and only after an Authorization to Self Carry and Administer Medication form is completed by the prescribing physician and on file in the nursing clinic. All other medications require the Authorization to Administer Medication form to be on file and medications must be kept in the clinic. All medication forms are available here at cjeagles.org.
