Earn College Credit Before Spending

College Dollars with CJ PLTW Courses

Greetings!

Did you know that students who complete one or more Project Lead the Way (PLTW) classes at CJ can make their high school course work pay off in college!

Due to partnerships maintained by Project Lead the Way with numerous colleges and universities across the nation, CJ students may be eligible to earn college credit, receive special college scholarships, and gain admissions preference at certain schools. For more details, visit the national PLTW Web site at:

www.pltw.org/types-pltw-college-and-university-partnerships

Additionally, several Ohio colleges and universities -- including Ohio University, Ohio State University, and the University of Dayton -- offer further preferences to Ohio PLTW students. For more information regarding incentives to in-state schools, visit the Ohio PLTW Web site at:

www.pltwohio.org/pltw_paths.php

Both graduating seniors who have successfully completed an Engineering or Biomedical Sciences course, and current students interested in CJ's PLTW program are strongly encouraged to consider these options before spending college dollars.

Sincerely,

Meg Draeger, CJ STEMM Coordinator  |  email

EMF Forms Due & Medications Need Retrieved

All students are required to have an annual Emergency Medical Form (EMF) on file in the School Clinic (view/print form). Over 80 returning students have not submitted their form for next year. Many EMFs were mailed home for correction and/or completion and have not been returned. These forms must be on file by June 3, 2011 if the student is participating in summer sports. Any student who has not submitted an EMF by August 31, 2011 may face exclusion from school until we receive a complete form.

Additionally, parents are reminded that any medications stored in the clinic must be picked up no later than Friday, June 3 by 3 p.m. The nurse does not work over the summer so any medications that are not picked up by this date and time will be disposed of. Students may pick up the medications after exams or the parent may come in to retrieve the medication.

Earn Summer Service Hours Through CJ STEMM

The CJ STEMM Gateway Academy Summer Camp is July 11-15 and we are currently recruiting Project Lead the Way students to serve as teacher aides. It is a fun opportunity for CJ students to earn service hours working with middle schoolers while putting their engineering and biomedical knowledge to use! If you know students who may be interested, have them contact Meg Draeger.
