Updates

CJ Students Enjoy Teaching Spanish to Youngsters

Spanish 3 classes have been doing fun teaching activities with the students at Holy Angels. CJ students have been interactively reading children's books with the kindergarteners using Spanish, and the highlight has been teaching the dance, "Baila con tu cuerpo." Those 5-year-olds can really dance!

Other students are working with the 5th graders on Spanish numbers using examples with dates, heights, math problems and ages. This week they are beginning colors, and the grand finale will include a piņata with plenty of candy, which the grade schoolers will only be allowed to eat it if they can tell their CJ "teachers" the color of the candy wrapper in Spanish! It is a great experience for the grade school students, who are introduced to a new language in a fun way, and for CJ students, who get to switch roles and be the teacher for a change.

Powder Puff Flag Football Game for Charity

Saturday, May 7  |  1:30 p.m.  |  West Carrollton Jr. High

CJ's senior girls will take on the Alter Knights in our 2nd annual Powder Puff Game for Charity sponsored by the CJ Student Council. Admission to the game at West Carrollton Jr. High School (directions) is $2 for players, coaches, and spectators. Concessions will also be available. Last year more than $400 was raised for charity as the Eagles defeated the girls from Alter, and this year we hope to make an even larger donation! If you are interested in getting involved, here are just a few ways to help:

  • Donate desserts or drinks to be sold at concessions for the game.
  • Attend the game on Saturday, May 7, pay an admission fee, and cheer the Eagles to victory!

Attention Parents of Freshmen

At CJ we expect students to have basic skills in keyboarding, formatting documents in Word, creating an Excel spreadsheet, and designing a PowerPoint presentation. Therefore, it is a requirement that students have experience using these essential tools. Students have two options to complete this requirement:

  1. Take CJ's Computer Topics class during their careers at CJ, or
  2. If students would rather have time in their schedules to take other elective classes, they may demonstrate proficiency in the above mentioned computer skills by passing four computer skills tests. Please note: this test-out option must be completed during a student's freshman year. After freshman year, the only option is to take the Computer Topics class.

Time is running out for freshmen to take the tests -- there are only two testing times remaining. The remaining testing times can be found at here at cjeagles.org

After TODAY, students will be required to take the Computer Topics class if they have not passed all four tests.

2011-12 Emergency Medical Forms

All students are required to have an annual Emergency Medical Form (EMF) on file in the School Clinic (view/print form). This form is required in the event of a medical emergency so it is imperative we have updated information annually by the first day of the school year. If your child is involved in summer activities, it is required that a form be turned in by June 3, 2011.
