CJ Welcomes 7th Graders from

St. Christopher Friday for STEMM Day

Greetings!

We had a wonderful time welcoming both newcomers and familiar faces to CJ last Sunday for our 4th-7th Grade "Try-It" Open House. The turn-out was terrific, with 64 families and 75 students from 29 different zip codes coming through our doors to experience what it's like being an Eagle!

Attendees combined to represent 23 area grade schools, making this new springtime activity truly a community event. Thanks to everyone who helped show our guests what Chaminade Julienne Catholic High School is all about!

This Friday, members of our faculty and staff along with 13 Eagle Ambassadors are looking forward to another opportunity to work with local youngsters as 50 7th graders from St. Christopher stop by from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for a STEMM Day. Students will be building Earthquake-proof structures using only straws, strings and paperclips, and will also learn about tsunamis and fault lines. We look forward to their visit!

If you know other grade school students who might enjoy spending a day shadowing an Eagle, or know families who might benefit from learning more about the opportunities available at CJ, please have them contact us in the Admissions Offfice.

Sincerely,

Brett Chmiel, Admissions Coordinator

Attention Parents of Freshmen

At CJ we expect students to have basic skills in keyboarding, formatting documents in Word, creating an Excel spreadsheet, and designing a PowerPoint presentation. Therefore, it is a requirement that students have experience using these essential tools. Students have two options to complete this requirement:

  1. Take CJ's Computer Topics class during their careers at CJ, or
  2. If students would rather have time in their schedules to take other elective classes, they may demonstrate proficiency in the above mentioned computer skills by passing four computer skills tests. Please note: this test-out option must be completed during a student's freshman year. After freshman year, the only option is to take the Computer Topics class.

Time is running out for freshmen to take the tests -- there are only six testing times remaining. The remaining testing times can be found at here at cjeagles.org.

After Thursday, April 28, students will be required to take the Computer Topics class if they have not passed all four tests.

2011-12 Emergency Medical Forms

All students are required to have an annual Emergency Medical Form (EMF) on file in the School Clinic (view/print form). This form is required in the event of a medical emergency so it is imperative we have updated information annually by the first day of the school year. If your child is involved in summer activities, it is required that a form be turned in by June 3, 2011.
