Wishing You a Wonderful New Year!
|
Greetings!
Happy New Year and welcome back! I hope everyone had a relaxing and blessed break. Moving ahead into 2011, I am excited to announce that we will be kicking off the year with a couple of fun new events for our students.
All CJ students are invited to the Student Conditioning Center Friday night to help raise money for breast cancer awareness. Student Council will host the Pink Out! Karaoke/Mixer for the Cure-the first ever school dance in our new facility-from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $4, but wear mostly pink and get in the door for $3!
In addition, there will also be a Pink Out Bake Sale during all lunch periods Friday. All proceeds from both of these events will be donated to the American Cancer Society. As always, thank you for your continued support of our students' initiatives.
God bless,
John Marshall | email |

Updates
New CJ Community Writing Center
Does your son or daughter struggle with writing assignments or with creating ideas for written work? Does your son or daughter lack motivation and procrastinate regularly?
The CJ English department would like to announce the creation of its new Community Writing Center, opening January 13. The mission of the Writing Center is to promote literacy development through support and coaching in reading and writing. The center is a safe space for students to engage with a tutor about any step of the writing process, including discovery, prewriting, outlining, drafting, and revision. Through a collaborative inquiry process, tutors will discuss writing in order to motivate student-writers to improve their work.
The Community Writing Center is open to all students of all ability levels. Located in room 126 (next to OSS), the center is open for drop-in visits periods 3, 5, 7, 8 and on Wednesdays after school from 3 to 4 p.m.
If you have questions or would like more information, please email Molly Bardine or Greg Mueller. -- Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week Reward During CJ's Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week in November, the school surpassed its donation goals by collecting more than $2,500 and 2,000 items for people in need. Therefore, the students, faculty and staff will be rewarded with the day off school on Tuesday, Feb. 22, and the building will be closed. Congratulations and thanks to everyone for all your hard work!
