Welcome to 2010! You
made it and now have another shot at success or even greater success. There are three simple questions that you must
answer affirmatively that will determine if you're going to be successful or
not.
1. Did you plant the necessary seeds for the success you're
seeking?
2. Are you taking action to ensure those seeds are being
watered?
3. Do you believe in your heart of hearts it will happen?
If your answers to any of those questions was no, you can
stop reading right here as sadly 2010 will be a repeat of 2009. It's a painful truth, but there's hope so
keep reading. Not everyone measures
success the same way. Business success
is measured with money and that's mostly what we talk about. Some measure it with weight loss or good
grades and such. Still those three
fundamental questions remain at the core of your ability to be successful.
I'll use myself as an example. A few of the goals I set for 2010 were:
*Meet with architect to enhance
the permit set drawings for the Chateau D'Von - my 3rd dream home
*Schedule a return trip to Tsinghua University
in Beijing
*Charter the R-66 (Robinson's
latest helicopter) for a test flight
*Schedule a Murcielago test
drive - my 3rd dream car
*Prepare and send a High Impact Presentation to meet Michael Lee Chin (world's richest black man)
*Prepare and execute a reading
regiment that ensures I will read 1.5 books per month minimum
*Increase sit ups to 150 per
day and ensure bench press ability stays near 300lbs
*Schedule an Investment Forum
on the west coast
I think that looks like a pretty decent start to the New
Year but again, notice I said WERE. That's
because 7 out of 8 are already complete and the remaining one is a phone call
away. But hold up, it's just the first
week of the year, how can I have possibly set and met that many goals? For starters, they are all in line with who I
am anyway, none of them are radically new concepts and I began writing the 2010
list in late December 09'. I didn't have
to believe they'd come to pass, I already knew it but was pleasantly surprised
to find out just how fast they happened.
"If you're interested, you'll do what's convenient: if you're committed,
you'll do whatever it takes" is what I learned from The Answer which is January's book #2 and a bestseller in the
making. It's a quantum-physics look at
the Laws of Attraction, Gestation, Action and Compensation that demonstrate what
you need to do to understand and ensure success.
In terms of your goals, it's not you'll believe it when you
see it but in actuality, you'll see it when you believe it. The other important thing to remember is
avoid getting discouraged if they don't happen by tomorrow because not all
things have the same lifecycle. It takes
even the healthiest of moms nine months to have a baby. They can't make it a six week process no
matter how hard they try or how much money they have or how many successful
doctors they network with. Some
non-mentioned goals I've set just won't happen this year because they are on a
multi-year life cycle and there's not a thing I can do to speed them up.
My partner Mike Jenkins spotted me on a 295lb bench press
one day and I knew I'd complete the rep because Mike's twice as strong and I
knew he wouldn't let me fail. After I
pushed with everything I had and was sure it wasn't enough, I could have sworn
he touched the bar at which point I exploded to the finish. He later told me he never actually touched
the bar! Huh? I had faith that he had my back and that his strength
carried me. Do you know anyone who has
strength to carry you through when you're flat on your back with the weight of
the world on your shoulders? See
Footprints. Faith is a necessary
essential.
