News & Trends |
Greetings!
Spring is finally upon us! Even though it didn't snow since the first week of March (yes, it is a little hard to believe), we think we speak for everyone in Maine that this time of the year always offers the promise of rebirth and optimism. When it comes to real estate, it no doubt has been difficult for both sellers and buyers. However, over the last few weeks we have seen a dramatic increase in website inquiries, serious buyers and properties under contract. Although much caution and concern still exists, we hope this new momentum is not just temporary blip or the normal seasonal aberation - but rather a sign of better times ahead. |

Explore Munjoy Hill
A onetime blue-collar enclave, Portland's Munjoy Hill neighborhood has become a hot spot in Maine's biggest city. Taking up the eastern portion of the peninsula, the area features shops, restaurants, galleries and a theater, but it doesn't have the bustle of the Old Port, the sumptuous mansions of the West End or the museums of downtown's Arts District. Translation: It's just you and the locals in a vibrant, eclectic neighborhood complete with plenty of shops, dinning spots and sights to provide you with a true sense of the city. Learn More... |

Bucking the Herd
Two of the greatest financial minds ever - Warren Buffett and the late Sir John Templeton - differed immensely in their personal styles, but agreed wholeheartedly in their approach to investing.
Both strongly eschew the herd mentality, believing that you can never beat the herd by following it. Buffett, of course, is well known for his rather blunt opinion of running with the bulls: "Be fearful when others are greedy, he says. "And greedy only when others are fearful." Similarly, Sir John was famous for cautioning investors to sell at the moment of maximum risk and buy at the point of maximum opportunity. He believed in paying close attention to the market's emotional continuum before investing. Learn More... | |
