Greetings!

Well, this was suppose to go out three weeks ago, but .......

Okay, it is now past Halloween, close to Thanksgiving, so we can start to think about making gifts for Christmas.  (isn't that pushing it a little bit?)  If you are like me, you want something quick, easy, and fun.  To help out, we have some suggestions for you below.

Needless to say, I have been busy.

We lost one of our neighbors, Barry Boone, of North Country Grill and Pub, this past Monday.  Our thoughts are with Chelsea, Karen, and the rest of the crew.

Have a great Thanksgiving Day.  Enjoy your family and friends and be thankful that we live in this lovely area.

Knitting for Christmas

Christmas Dishcloth Story - use our dishcloth yarn to knit up a quick gift for Christmas.  We have the Holiday Knit Dishcloth book, if you want specific patterns.

If you have the The Knitting Experience: Book 1: The Knit Stitch by Sally Melville, turn to page 46 and knit the Shape It! Scarf.  Use Aurora and Lamb's Pride worsted stranded together or Delightful or Sterling Silk and Silver with Lamb's Pride worsted.  250 yds on a size US 10 needle makes for a quick and lovely knit.

Want some leg warmers?  Turn to page 50 and knit Legwarmers:  Maximum & Minimum out of worsted weight yarn.  Try our Vintage or Lamb's Pride.

Knotted Slippers by CoCo Knits uses sock yarn and makes a cute slipper.  Keep a pair in your purse or wear them to bed for warm toes.  Ruth knitted a pair out of Madelinetosh Sock yarn and added an icord to the edging.  Very cute and a fast knit.

Spiral Rib Hat by Ann Norling - multi gauges, multi sizes.  Great stash buster.  16" to 24" circumference.

Shirl's Mittlets - we knitted these in Lamb's Pride worsted.  The pattern uses yarn from fingering weight up to aran/heavy worsted.  Again, a great stash buster.

Cabled Mitten Trio - use worsted weight yarn.  Three different styles.

Cabled Hat Trio - worsted weight, three different styles.

Soho Hat - fingering weight yarn.  We have a sample using the Knit One Crochet Too yarn.

Jane Austen Shawls - garter stitch shawl that knits up fast and easy on a US 15, especially if you make the kerchief style.

Elizabethan Sea Creature - use a DK weight yarn on US 6 to make a ruffly neck wrap.

Versatile Scarves - a favorite with our customers, this has three different styles.  Another good stash buster that uses fingering weight up to worsted weight yarn.

Stop by the shoppe, we are setting up a special corner of ideas for you.

 Free Patterns
Lettuce Leaf Scarf - use Madeline Tosh sock yarn for this lovely scarf.

Oink is for those who say "When pigs fly."  Use the bouncey ball if you want it to fly or just regular stuffing if you don't care.

Podster Gloves  - a convertible mitten/glove pattern for those cold fingers that still want to access the Smart Phone or iPod.  Go to Ravelry for this pattern.  Fingering weight yarn such as Kauni, ShiBui sock, Zauberball, Barefoot, Crazyfoot, or Opal would work really well with this.

Tips and Tricks

Knitting with a ball of yarn that likes to roll?  Take a zip lock bag, put the ball in it, zip it shut, snip an end off and feed your working yarn through it.  This also keeps the yarn from getting dirty and tangling up.

Losing your place on your knitting pattern?  We have highlighter tape that you can move around over and over before it loses its stickiness.
