Greetings!
According the United States Department of Labor, Labor Day is a tribute to the contributions
workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our
country. It also marks the end of our summer as we watch folks slowly go back to their homes downstate.
While some of you are packing up and going back to your daily routines at home, we continue to add to our inventory. As of today we offer 156 yarns from thirty-five different companies. We also have bags and cases from Namaste, various items from Lantern Moon, and five different brands of needles. Our notions include mugs and thermal cups from Knit Happy, limited edition art buttons from Laughing Fox (an artist in Suttons Bay), hand crafted stitch markers, highlighter tape, row counters, soothing lotions, and lovely woven bags. The Thistledown clan is constantly knitting models so you can see how the yarn works up.
It has been wonderful to see all of our summer customers and we hope that you will remember to stay in touch and contact us if there is anything else we can do to help with your fiber needs.

Free Patterns
Stars and Stripes Felted Hot Pads - You can be patriotic with these quick knits. And they would also make great gifts. Try them in different colors, using Lamb's Pride and Nature Spun. The star would be great for winter. Professor's Scarf - I am presently knitting this scarf out of Naturally Tussock Aran 10 ply for a donation to a silent auction. Because my yarn is a smaller weight than the pattern, I cast on 300 sts, using a US 7 needle, and I will stop when I like the width. It is easy and mindless (which is what I need at night time for my mush brain). I also cast on the extra stitches, as I like long, long scarves for wrapping around my neck. Storm Cloud Shawlette - This is a shawlette based on Elizabeth Zimmermann's Pi Shawl. You do not have to worry about the yarn or gauge, so it is great for everyone. You can make it with or without a ruffle. Use anything from lace on up to worsted for a lovely wrap.
