Books

Love, love this book. I will admit that I have never heard of M'Lou Baber before, but she is brilliant. And Meg Swanson and crew are not so bad either. Here, I will let them tell you about this amazing book.
"The fascinating technique of Double-Knitting (which produces a
two-faced, negative-image fabric) has been simplified by the author to
enable you to work both sides in a single pass. M'Lou's stunning
designs for coats, jackets, and shawls are all accessible through
detailed charts as well as written out instructions. An extensive
technique section and a chapter of assorted practice items will help
you to fall into the rhythm of this increasingly popular type of hand
knitting."
Yup, and I want the Celtic Coat. Add it to my to-do list. And for those of us who are not Susan, M'Lou has several small pieces to start knitting.
We stocked this book last winter and sold out. Had to bring it back. I started the hat below, it starts from the top down, and I will admit that I had no problem with the cast on, it was with the next several rows. Thanks to Doreen, who has knitted 99% of the hats in this book, I learned how to continue on and I now have 1.5 hats finished. (Okay, I don't knit fast and you folks have more time.) So, here is Pat and I knitted it out of the Lamb's Pride Bulky Cranberry Swirl. I am now working on Beth in the Pistachio colorway of Lamb's Pride Bulky. And to clarify, the two hats above are not the ones I knitted. Next will be Valery in Lamb's Pride Burly Spun. Have not picked out the color yet.
Another fantastic book. Interweave put this out and here they tell us- "Knitted Lace of Estonia includes dozens of Estonian,
heirloom-quality lace patterns: scarves and shawls in square,
rectangular, and triangular shapes; some with added edgings, some
without. Plus, the book covers instructions for interchanging patterns
and designing an Estonian-style shawl, stole or scarf from beginning to
end. And, tips and techniques used in Estonia are included and
augmented with expert advice from popular author Nancy Bush." I would add that Nancy has produced another excellent book. She tells you the history on the shawls and makes you feel that you are right there with her talking to the knitters of Estonia. Check out some of the patterns. Are you ready to take on lace? And by the way, just a reminder that we do have a lace workshop this April at Bayshore Resort. Cute, cute, and more cute. If you have been using our link for
Panopticon on our blog, you will already know about this fun book. Yarn
