Thanks to all of you that have donated the hats, scarfs, and other
items for our No Idle Hands Project. It was exciting to receive two
large garbage bags full of hats last week!
For those of you who are not familiar with our project, here is a quickie description.
Calling on Northern Michigan yarn lovers to pick up
your needles and create just one hat, one scarf, one pair of mittens or socks
(adult or children size) for donation to the Goodwill Inn where they will be
distributed to the homeless in Northern Michigan.
We are still accepting donations.

Polar Knit

We have a new yarn in the shoppe! Instead of me trying to tell you about it, I have taking the following right from their website:
"PolarKnit™ -- a new plush fleece yarn made to keep you cozy
and warm. Its soft texture and wind resistant qualities are great for
outdoor activities. Made from Polartec's® Wind Pro® fleece it offers a
wide comfort range for any use, and its durability and tight knit
construction stand up wash after wash.
Polartec®, based in Lawrence, Massachusetts, invented the world's
first fleece back in the 70's and became a household name. Today,
customers can enjoy over 300 high-tech Polartec® fabrics and one cozy
yarn - PolarKnit.
PolarKnit fleece yarn comes in six vibrant colors for 2008: Leap Frog, Mermaid, Carrot, Mallard, Deep Red, and Black. Each ball is 50 meters or 55 yards in length and weights 50 grams. Recommended needle size: 7-9mm or 10.75-13 US. Gauge: 12 sts and 16 rows = 10cm (4 inches) in stocking stitch. (3 stitches per inch)" Susan has already knitted up a mitten from the yarn. Stop by and check it out. And look at this. We've got yarn dots. Just take them and put them into your crocheted or knitted garments.

Yarn Hollow Sock Yarn
We have picked up another new line of yarn. This is Rita of Yarn Hollow. Rita does a wonderful job of hand dying fiber. She has an amazing eye for blending the colors.
 We have Rita's Panda Cotton.
And we have Rita's Sock Religious. As you can see, Susan is knitting two socks on two circular needles. The flats are set up with two yarns that you unravel and seperate for crocheting or knitting. And this is my favorite color - Seattle. I found Rita a year and a half ago, because I saw this color in a worsted weight yarn she had dyed.
