Welcome
Have you heard of
St.
Baldrick's? No? Did you know that each year, 160,000
children are diagnosed with cancer worldwide? Cancer is the
number one disease killer of children in the U.S. and
Canada. Research saves lives, and the St. Baldrick's
Foundation funds more in childhood cancer research grants
than any organization except the U.S. government, more than
$12 million in 2009 alone! This month we're going to ask
you to help us out--one of our own has volunteered
to shave his head in solidarity with children who have
cancer and typically lose their hair during treatment, while
raising critical funds for childhood cancer research! If you
wish to donate to this worthy cause, please click
this link
(before Friday 19 March!), and we'll be sure to
get before and after photos! |

Media part 2: Blogging
reprinted with permission
from the HP Small Business Center
No doubt, you've
heard the term web log, better known as blog, but you may
not know how blogging can actually benefit your business. By
definition, a blog is a website that hosts entries--or
posts--of commentary, descriptions of events, graphics,
videos and more. No longer just a way for controversial
thoughts to be heard, small and large businesses everywhere
have begun to blog to build brand awareness, interact with
their customers on a more personal level, and elevate their
status in the industry as a thought-leader
In part one of
this article,
The Business value of Social Media Part I: Online networking,
we explored how free networking sites like
Twitter,
Facebook
and
Linkedin are crucial to helping your business thrive.
Here, we'll show you how blogging has gone from being an
online diary of sorts, to an online marketing tool that
helps you gain credibility and position yourself and your
business as leaders in your industry. We'll also provide a
few tips for getting started, should you decide what
millions of others already have--that blogging is good for
business.

You're In Sales No Matter
What Your Title
by Debra J. Schmidt - used with permission
If
I ask you right now whether or not you are in sales, chances
are you would say, "No, I'm in accounts payable or customer
service or marketing." You might even say, "I'm the CEO."
No matter what
your job is, you are in sales. Every time you interact with
a customer, you are selling your professional credibility,
the company's products or services, and the company's image.
So, even if you don't work in the sales department, read on.

3 Ways to Recover a
Corrupted Excel workbook
reprinted
with permission from the HP Small Business Center
It's your worst
Excel nightmare: a damaged or corrupted workbook. This can
happen for a variety of reasons -- and the good news is that
there is a variety of ways to retrieve your damaged file.
If a file is
corrupted, Excel should normally perform an automated
recovery. However, if that doesn't work, there are a few
other options you can try.
