Greetings!
We are well into the Lenten season, a time when we have the opportunity to not only give something up, but take something on! Ironically, taking some new activity on such as prayer, fasting, acts of kindness, almsgiving often involves giving something up. There are only 24 hours in a day so if I want to spend more time in prayer, I have to give up T.V. or Facebook. If I want to give a donation to a worthy cause, I have to give up something I would have otherwise purchased. If I want to visit a
shut-in, I must give up some "me-time."
Giving up something by taking on something better, seems more meaningful and fulfilling!
May you find yourself feasting on the Spirit of Christ this Lent!
Peace,

THE WAY is a powerful and inspirational story about family, friends and the challenges we face while navigating this ever-changing and complicated world. Martin Sheen plays Tom, an irascible American doctor who comes to France to deal with the tragic loss of his son (played by Emilio Estevez). Rather than return home, Tom decides to embark on the historical pilgrimage "The Way of St. James" to honor his son's desire to finish the journey.

THE WAY, written and directed by Emilio Estevez, was filmed entirely in Spain and France along the actual Camino de Santiago.

Taize Prayer Gathering
Second
Wednesday of the Month
at 7 pm
Taize is a meditative common prayer using song, chants, scripture, reflection and periods of contemplative silence, a prayer that does not end, but continues in the silence of the heart. Within this sacred space one is drawn into a deeper awareness of God's presence; it is a prayerful opportunity for self-reflection.
Contemplative prayer is seen as a critical path in mission. It is through prayer that we are connected with God and it is in the silence of our hearts that God communicates and shares with us God's mission of love for the world.
Taize will be held the second Wednesday of every month in the Chapel at the Maryknoll Center at 16642 Ashland Avenue, San Lorenzo. The hour long service will start at 7:00 p.m. with Ruth Picha. Ruth is a Spiritual Director, who trained at Mercy Center in Burlingame. |

The Truth
"I remember being at a retreat once where the leader asked us to think of someone who represented Christ in our lives. When it came time to share our answers, one woman stood up and said, 'I had to think hard about that one. I kept thinking, Who is it who told me the truth about myself so clearly that I wanted to kill him for it?'
According to John, Jesus died because he told the truth to everyone he met. He was the truth, a perfect mirror in which people saw themselves in God's own light." - Barbara Brown Taylor
