Greetings!
"Remembering all those who have gone before us" and celebrating the Day of Dead all month!
At the Regional Center in San Lorenzo, we are celebrating the lives of all the Saints who have gone before us and who now participate in the banquet of eternal life! Grandparents, parents, cousins, children and all our family and friends who touched our lives in so many ways we believe that they now guide us through this journey of life. As Christians, we know that death is not the end but the beginning of our next form of existence in God's love.

In the chapel, we have an altar in the style of Dia de los Muertos and many have come to place the names and/or pictures of loved ones who have gone to celebrate the resurrection in paradise. We encourage all who are able to bring pictures and/or names of the loved ones you would like to remember. Bring a sample or symbol of their favorite food, flowers, etc. We will place all items on the altar during the month of November.
We hope you can join us for our Christmas Party on Dec. 1st that brings our year long Centennial celebrations to a close as the Maryknoll Sisters begin their Centennial. See below for details and other upcoming events. And, don't forget to sign up for the Maryknoll Magazine and enter the drawing for the Kindle Fire. The drawing will be on December 1.
Peace,
Kris and the Maryknoll Team |
Movie Night: Babette's Feast

Maryknoll Regional Center Common Room

On the desolate coast of Denmark live Martina and Philippa, the beautiful daughters of a devout clergyman who preaches salvation through self-denial. Both girls sacrifice youthful passion to faith and duty, and even many years after their father's death, they keep his austere teachings alive among the townspeople. But with the arrival of Babette, a mysterious refugee from France's civil war, life for the sisters and their tiny hamlet beings to change. Soon, Babette has convinced them to try something truly outrageous-a gourmet French meal!
A very Eucharistic film!
Discussion to follow.

Taize Prayer Gathering
Second
Wednesday of the Month
at 7 pm
Taize is a meditative common prayer using song, chants, scripture, reflection and periods of contemplative silence, a prayer that does not end, but continues in the silence of the heart. Within this sacred space one is drawn into a deeper awareness of God's presence; it is a prayerful opportunity for self-reflection.
Contemplative prayer is seen as a critical path in mission. It is through prayer that we are connected with God and it is in the silence of our hearts that God communicates and shares with us God's mission of love for the world.
Taize will be held the second Wednesday of every month in the Chapel at the Maryknoll Center at 16642 Ashland Avenue, San Lorenzo. The hour long service will start at 7:00 p.m. with Ruth Picha. Ruth is a Spiritual Director, who trained at Mercy Center in Burlingame. |

A prayer for Justice
Tilt the scales,
O God of the tiny seed:
that the poor shall see justice.
Share the feast,
O God of Eden's abundant garden: that each crop may fetch a fair price.
Upset the tables,
O God of the upside-down kingdom: that the least can benefit from their trade.
Open our eyes,
O God of life in all its fullness: that we may learn to walk the way of your Son tilting, sharing, upsetting this world not satisfied until the gifts of the harvest give a better deal, to all who hunger for one.
In the name of Jesus,
Amen.
