Good Friday Reflection

Cambodia
In the pain, misfortune, oppression,
and death of the people,
God is silent..
God is silent on the cross,
in the crucified.
And this silence is God's word,
God's cry.
In solidarity,
God speaks the language of love.

Greetings!

Greetings during this holy week.  As we find ourselves immersed this week in the Passion of our Lord, our master story that orients us to the reality of God's love, we hope that God will bless you with an ever deeper awareness of His presence.

We will be gathering in our chapel at the Mission Center on Good Friday evening at 7pm for Stations of the Cross using Maryknoll's multimedia "The Way of the Cross Continues."   Following Stations we will gather for bread and cheese.  If you'd like to join us, please me know (mdulka@maryknoll.org).

CambodiaAlso coming up...please join us next week on Tuesday (4/14 at 7:30 pm) for the monthly Mission Forum.   Clem, Gladys and I will be sharing pictures and videos from our trip to Cambodia in February.  We're hoping to use these materials to encourage others to visit Cambodia for mission exposure trips or short term mission opportunities, so we'd appreciate any feedback on the presentation.

Wishing you peace on behalf of the Mission Team,

Matt

Join us at our April Mission Forum.  Matt Dulka and Clement and Gladys Chen will share their stories and pictures from their recent trip to visit the Maryknoll Mission Team in Cambodia.  From Maryknoll's work with people impacted by HIV/AIDS to teaching English at the University to even getting a massage by the blind therapists trained at the Maryknoll rehabilitation program, the trio experienced the great work being done in this country still recovering from war and genocide.   They will talk also about the opportunities for others to visit Cambodia on exposure trips and short term mission assignments.

Join us at our May Mission Forum for a presentation on the situation in Jamaica.   Beyond the beaches and the tourist resorts, Maryknoll and the San Jose Diocese have partnered with the Montego Bay Diocese to help the local Church address the challenges it faces in light of poverty and violence.   In March, Matt Dulka and Marie Wren visited Jamaica with a delegation from the San Jose Diocese to explore ongoing opportunities for people to visit Jamaica on mission exposure trips and participate in short term mission opportunities.
