Soccer News - July 3, 2009

Schedule
Saturday July 4 is the first official day of games.  Games for Saturday July 4th and Wednesday July 8th have been posted on the website, www.thorncliffepark.ca.  The full summer schedule will be posted next week.

From this point forward, players should go directly to the field that they are playing on, according to the schedule.

Team Rosters
Teams have been formed and we have a total of 24 teams in 6 divisions.  Please go to the website and check your age division to see what team you are on.  You will be on this same team for the remainder of the summer.   We may make one adjustment to the rosters between July 4th and July 10th, if necessary, depending on the coaches observations  in the first set of games in each division.

Players must call/email their coach or the organizers if they are going to miss a game for any reason. Your teammates will be counting on you to be there.

Water
Many players are still coming to the games without water.  It is very important that each player bring water with them to avoid becoming dehydrated.  The water bottle should have the player's name on it.

Coaches
Coaches and helpers will receive their team assignments on the field tomorrow.  It is safe to assume that if you are a coach or a helper, and you have a child/sibling playing, you will be assigned to their team.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank those who have come forward and agreed to take on the responsibility for coaching a team for the season.   And we would like to thank those who have indicated that they would like to be helpers or assistants with the teams.

We will need people to be linesmen during the games so if you'd like to help out in this activity, please make yourself known to the coach or to Satinder, Raees, or Ovais.

Sponsorships
We're very pleased to report that we have sponsors for all 24 teams!  Thus, every player will receive a team shirt.  We will having the shirts made up next week and hope to have them by the second round of games.

If you get the opportunity, please patronize and thank our sponsors.

Fundraising
As you are aware, there is no fee for the children to play in the league.  However, the league does have some expenses to cover and thus donations in any amount ($5, $10, $20) would be appreciated to help cover the costs of items such as balls, pylons, portable soccer nets, activities, whistles, clipboards, printing, etc.  If you would like to make a donation to help support the league, you may do so by writing a cheque payable to Thorncliffe Soccer Club and giving it to Satinder, Raees, or Ovais.  You may also make a donation with your credit card by clicking on the Donate button below.
