The Art of a Kitchen When Ellen & David Banker visited our showroom last December, they had no idea that ClearLake Furniture would help them design, build and install their new upper kitchen cabinets and soapstone countertop. Collaborating with the Bankers, we were able to incorporate Ellen's ideas, including a custom hood cover, a stylish backsplash, and antique soapstone sink into the design. Doug Ficken of CLF went to their home, measured the space and discussed ideas with Ellen & David regarding space, design and needs. Having a true fondness of stained Tiger maple, David and Ellen selected this wood/finish for their cabinets; this blended nicely with the current lower cabinets. Installing a special, stainless-steel backsplash combined the beauty and richness of the oven and overall design and really defined this kitchen. "This was truly a team effort," says Doug. ClearLake was there from design through installation to complete a thorough and detailed job. The Bankers are delighted: "Working with ClearLake was a wonderful experience for us; we loved working with Doug and everyone involved. Doug kept the project together and on track - he's so creative and does technically excellent work on top of that." ~Ellen Banker |

A Special Clock
Wow! What a clock! See how tall it is next to its craftsman Steve at ClearLake? Made of American Black Walnut, this clock stands at almost 8 feet tall! With Hermle clockworks fitted into it, it's the design of ClearLake Furniture owner Brent Karner for the Shapsons who wanted something unique for their large foyer. Steve went to work with the challenging and detailed woodwork for this custom, hand-crafted piece. See more in-process pictures and information in our blog about this piece on our website.

Tapped Maple Rocker Introducing our elegant handmade rocker from local Tapped maple trees. Holes in the wood are from man-made drill holes for taps, pounded into maple trees for maple-sugaring. These unique markings, dark spots and streaks are only discovered when the tree is milled into lumber. We thought it would make a unique texture for furniture! Each one is a one-of-a-kind! You need to see & feel this rocker in person to truly appreciate it!
