Midway through winter 2011

Greetings!Kitchen cabinets-island

In 2010, we took on more one-of-a-kind projects than ever before, including our first kitchen cabinetry project (right) and a wide variety of pieces with intricate inlays. Our craftsmen came up with their own designs, including the Hatchrack. We've discovered that as much as our customers love the craftsmanship of our heirloom pieces, they also welcome the innovations-creatively solving a problem of design or space or their own personal preferences.

So, in 2011, we will expand on our innovations and we invite you to present us with more challenges, more seemingly impossible problems, and lots more "what ifs".

Vermont Welcome Centers welcome ClearLake.

Vermont Welcome Center furnitureWhen you're driving through Vermont, the Welcome Centers along the way provide a nice place to take a break, relax, refresh yourself, and learn a bit more about the many things to experience in the Green Mountain State.

We've provided the Welcome Centers in Sharon and Guilford with a variety of Coolidge rockers and tables, so visitors can get a real "feel" for Vermont hospitality, while getting a first-hand look at craftsmanship, the ClearLake way.

Every year, 400,000 people stop in at the Sharon Welcome Center alone. This year, they'll be rocking with ClearLake!

The artistry of inlays.

All come home tabletop detailWood inlays-where one piece of wood is fitted inside another to form a pattern-has become a ClearLake specialty. We receive more and more requests for this artisanal craft, which requires meticulous cutting and fitting. The "All Come Home" table (left) has cherry letters inlaid into a curly maple top. We  recently crafted a compass rose table with multiple types of woods inlaid in a walnut table top. And a customer in South Africa saw our inlay work and has ordered several pieces. This technique delivers stunning results when done correctly. Learn more about inlays in our blog.

Make room for guests: The trundle solution.

CLF-shaker trundle bedIf you've ever had to deal with too many overnight guests and not enough sleeping spaces, consider the trundle bed. This handy space-saver dates back centuries but has made a big comeback in recent years. Rather than collecting dust bunnies under your bed, use it to store a roll-away bed. We crafted this Shaker style bed with a trundle, but can customize most of our bed designs to accommodate this convenient sleeper.

CLF barn in winterIf you haven't yet visited our showroom or workshop (well, even
if you have), we invite you to take a few minutes to watch three videos that not only provide a virtual tour of workplace in a converted 18th century barn, but to also hear how we do what
we do. ClearLake Furniture is not just a store or a workshop.
It's the mindset we all share, a common vision that nothing less than exceptional is acceptable.

Sit back and see what it takes to create an heirloom. And you'll get to know our people as well!
