Our September discussion meeting is only a few short days away, on Monday night, September 26, 7:00 p.m. The book this time is Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, the debut novel of Jamie Ford. I've already been receiving good comments from a few of you who love this book. A historical fiction, this poignant story of young love is set in Seattle, Washington, primarily during the the early 1940's, against a backdrop of World War II and is an eye-opening look at the Japanese internment.
Don't Miss! Ford's own website ( www.jamieford.com) provides engrossing background material about the origins and inspiration for the book, including photographs of the WWII time period/Seattle locations, various interviews and podcasts, etc. You'll also find Ford's blog with ongoing information about his new writings and other activities.
Thanks to CCC Book Club member Barbara M. for suggesting this title.
