Alternative Methods to Find Book Selections
Please remember that starting with our April book, The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, the Jimmie B. Keel library will be unable to "hold back" our copies as they have so kindly done in the past. I trust that each of you can locate and check out a copy (either hard copy, or perhaps on CDs, etc.) on your own, from the library/library branch of your choice.
Last month we brought up a number of alternatives for free or cheap reading.
1. Susan R. mentioned a website that offers highly discounted books online and has the added bonus of supporting literacy and libraries. The site is called Better World Books. ( http://www.betterworldbooks.com )
2. Be sure to check at local used book stores, including the Friends of the Library, or the BookSwap locally in Carrollwood Village.
3. I have personally become a fan of checking out e-books from the library, in one of two forms: electronic books (usually in PDF) that you can read on your computer screen and/or Kindle-type device, or audiobooks that you can download and listen to on a computer or an I-POD.
If you would like to learn more about how to download and read/hear electronic books, I will try to get there a little early tomorrow night and stay afterwards, to share knowledge. Bring your gear and I'll bring mine! Or email me to set up another time to do this...the CCC is very convenient for me to stop by.
