CINNAROASTED ALMONDS, PACERS,
& TREEHOUSE FITNESS

Our Downtown Recognition Recipients

    Cinna Roasted

The Bridgewater Community Development Corporation will honor three Downtown Recognition recipients for the 4th quarter.  These are three relatively new businesses to our downtown business district.

Treehouse Fitness

Treehouse Fitness

Chris Hoegle is the proprietor of Treehouse Fitness.  Chris has been a personal trainer for 5 years and she does one on one training as well as small group, and Functional Fitness.  Chris hopes to begin a Mother and Baby fitness program in the future.  Chris looks forward to getting involved with the Bridgewater Community Development Corporation.

Pacers
Pacers
Jason Bumblis is also relatively new to Bridgewater. Pacers specializes in Web & Print Marketing.  Jason looks forward to being involved with the Community Development Corporation as well.  Jason has already taken the initiative to assist with several of the events that Bridgewater continues to offer residents and the public.

Finally, Michael & Lisa Blackburn are the owners of CinnaRoasted Almonds. Cinnamon Roasted Almonds are an age old snack thought to have been originated by Bavarian Germans in the middle ages.  The recipe contained only three simple yet perfect ingredients.  That is why CinnaRoasted decided long ago to stick to that delicious medley of cinnamon, sugar and vanilla.  For more information, CinnaRoasted is on Facebook and Twitter or you can log on to www.cinnaroasted.com.

The Bridgewater Community Development Corporation is dedicated to renewing and sustaining its central business district and its nearby residential areas.  Through its development committee, in cooperation with the community at large, the BCDC seeks to revitalize its business areas by utilizing the Main Street Approach for downtown revitalization.

The Bridgewater Community Development Corporation would like to welcome these three businesses and wish them much success!

75 BUSINESSES EARN
SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS DESIGNATION

through the Downtown First Program of Town Center Associates

In late 2010, Town Center Associates (TCA) in partnership with Sustainable Pittsburgh, launched the Sustainable Business Designation Program to advance sustainable practices among small, local businesses in Allegheny and Beaver County's traditional business districts. The program recognizes businesses for implementing sustainability actions that are simultaneously good for their bottom line, the environment, and the social fabric of their communities. To date, over seventy five businesses have earned a "Sustainable Business Designation" through this innovative new program.

TCA wanted to make it possible for consumers to search the  Downtown First business directories for businesses engaging in sustainable business practices. TCA asked Sustainable Pittsburgh to develop a short checklist of sustainability criteria for participating downtown businesses to receive the designation. The criteria include provisions related to energy conservation, waste reduction, stormwater management, land use policies, and alternative transportation, among other sustainability-related topics.

The Downtown First directory for each Allegheny Together town is now searchable by "sustainable businesses." The designation helps customers identify and choose businesses that are committed to sustainability as a core principle to their operations and business model. Businesses can qualify for an additional "Local Business Designation" in the directory as well.

Qualifying sustainable businesses receive a certificate of acknowledgment and window display stickers. The program is intended to inspire local, small businesses to apply sustainability practices and increase vitality among the region's rich fabric of small towns and neighborhoods. If you and your business are interested in signing up for the program, please visit:  www.downtownfirst.net/sustainable-businesses for more information.

TCA and Sustainable Pittsburgh are proud of the businesses who have shown their leadership in earning the sustainable designation, becoming stars in their communities. Click here to view a list of businesses that have earned the Sustainable Business Designation.

TRANSFORMING VACANCIES INTO OPPORTUNITIES
...WITH YOUR HELP!

Vacancies

You may have noticed an available/vacant storefront in your downtown and thought it was the perfect opportunity for a new business to move to your community! Vacant and/or available buildings and storefronts in your downtown are promoted through Town Center Associates' DowntownProperties.net website, the only of its kind in our region.

The DowntownProperties.net program is designed to encourage potential business owners to consider YOUR downtown when looking for a location for their business. If you have a business you'd like to ask to consider locating in your downtown, you can email property listings to them directly from the site. Interested business owners can sign up to receive a notification any time a property becomes available in your downtown.

Through the DowntownProperties.net program, YOU can be a part of helping to bring great new businesses to your downtown!
