DOWNTOWN FEATURED RECOGNITION

Lynn's Cafe
Lynn's Cafe

Joe Willett has been the owner of Lynn's Café for 7 years. Joe enthusiastically stated that the new façade he recently completed through the Allegheny Restores program has been good for business. Many people have commented positively, and the fresh look gives a definite attitude of open for business.

Joe commented that doing business in Stowe is good because "the people are great, and we have a good location." When asked what Lynn's should be known for Joe said "Good food, Good Friends" and Curtis added that the pancakes are made from a scratch recipe!

The Stowe Business District Advisory Committee is pleased to feature this great Stowe business!

Lynn's is open Mon-Sat 6 AM-2 PM and Sunday from 7 AM- 2 PM.

OVER 50 MAIN STREET BUSINESSES EARN SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS DESIGNATION THROUGH SUSTAINABLE PITTSBURGH PROGRAM

In late 2010, Sustainable Pittsburgh, in partnership with Town Center Associates, launched the Sustainable Business Designation program to advance sustainable practices among small, local businesses around Allegheny and Beaver County's Main Streets. The program recognizes businesses for implementing sustainability actions that are simultaneously good for their bottom line, the environment, and the social fabric of their communities. To date, over fifty businesses have earned sustainable business designation through this program.

To create the program, Sustainable Pittsburgh developed a short checklist of sustainability criteria for businesses. These criteria include provisions related to energy conservation, waste reduction, stormwater management, land use policies, and alternative transportation, among other sustainability-related topics.

Sustainable Business Designation is reflected for each qualifying business in the business directory for their town, soon to be available at www.DowntownFirst.net, as well as through a certificate of acknowledgment and window display stickers. The designation helps customers identify and choose businesses that are committed to sustainability as a core principle to their operations and business model. Businesses can earn an additional, Local Business, designation in the directory as well.

The program is intended to inspire local, small businesses to apply sustainability practices and increase vitality among the region's rich fabric of small towns and neighborhoods. If you and your business are interested in signing up for the program, visit: www.downtownfirst.net/sustainable-businesses.

Sustainable Pittsburgh is proud of the businesses who have shown their leadership in earning sustainable designation, becoming stars in their communities. Click here to view a list of businesses that have earned the Sustainable Business Designation.

TRANSFORM VACANCIES INTO OPPORTUNITIES...
WITH YOUR HELP!

Vacancies

You may have noticed an available/vacant storefront in your downtown and thought it was the perfect opportunity for a new business to move to your community! Vacant and/or available buildings and storefronts in your downtown are promoted through the DowntownProperties.net website, the only of its kind in our region.

The DowntownProperties.net program is designed to encourage potential business owners to consider YOUR downtown when looking for a location for their business. If you have a business you'd like to ask to consider to consider locating in your downtown, you can email property listings to them directly from the site. Interested business owners can sign up to receive a notification any time a property becomes available in your downtown.

Through the DowntownProperties.net program, YOU can be a part of helping to bring great new businesses to your downtown!
STOREFRONT DESIGN

In a tough economy, the tough...decorate! As the economy continues to recover, small business owners need to look to low-cost, high-impact ways of increasing their business. One of the best assets a business has is its storefront windows. Think of your storefront windows as a 24/7 billboard for your business. Good storefront window displays catch the attention of passersby, draw in customers, and lead to more sales.

PHLF is here to help you make the most of your storefront windows through free consultations with a design professional. Our designers can help you create an eye-catching window display, improve the interior layout of your space, and offer suggestions for new paint colors or window treatments. This is a great opportunity for your business to get recommendations from a design professional, free of charge. To set up an appointment, please contact David Farkas at 412-471-5808.
