DOWNTOWN RECOGNITION AWARD
Rochester Elementary School

Rochester Elementary

The Rochester Borough Development Corporation has chosen the teachers and students from Rochester Elementary School as its 1st Quarter Downtown Recognition recipients for 2011.  On Friday, December 3rd, this group of over 30 students and teachers braved the bitter cold to sing carols and decorate the Christmas tree in the center of Monument Park. The kids made all of the beautiful ornaments that hung on the tree and were rewarded with cookies and hot chocolate for their efforts. Also assisting in this project were members of the Borough Street Department, Maria Longo, chair of the RBDC, Rocco Longo and Candy Farmer, Community Life chair of the RBDC.

The Board sends a sincere THANK YOU to all of you who helped make our downtown so festive for the holidays! Highlights of the event are pictured.

ROCHESTER BOROUGH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION

The Rochester Borough Development Corporation is recognized by Council as the group that supports the Beaver County Main Street Network.  This committee focuses on three main initiatives:  Business Development, Architecture & Design and Community Life.

The Business Development committee's goal is to attract new businesses, as well as retain the current businesses.

The Architecture & Design committee focuses on helping businesses improve their storefronts through grants through the Façade Improvement Program made available through the Beaver County Community Development Program.

The Community Life committee works hard to bring lots of fun-filled activities and  events to our downtown including: Autumn Fest, Christmas Tree Decorating, Santa Parade and many more. The Rochester Bloomers beautify the community by planting and maintaining the gardens in our lovely parks. They need lots of volunteers to make these projects successful and would greatly appreciate your help.

The RBDC also works with Town Center Associates, a consulting firm that specializes in downtown revitalization.  There is a wealth of information on TCA's website regarding a list of properties, photos and contact information for each of the businesses in our downtown, a Calendar of Events, Vacancy Report, FOCUS E-Newsletter and much more.  Visit www.beavercountymainstreets.com.

If you are interested in becoming involved with the RBDC, the group meets the second Thursday of the month at the Rochester Community Building, 350 Adams Street, at Noon. They look forward to having you join them in their very worthwhile projects!
