What's on my Mind? A Link to Ginger's Blog...
Many really good things have happened this month. The two different Train-the-Trainer programs - one on Bringing Out the Best in Yourself at Work and the other based on What Type of Leader Are You? - were fun, engaged, and had wonderful people in them. They had very different qualities, with the first program being really mellow and the second being full of good combustion. Two people attended both, and at first, they were wondering how two programs could be so different. Really, it's because of the people in them and the dynamics generated. What also contributed to the dynamism in the second program was from Uranio Paes, who was attending, but who is also a dear friend. He's been doing some very deep and moving energy work, so we got to experiment with it in a variety of very wonderful ways.

The IEA (International Enneagram Association) Conference in between my programs was extremely pleasant, plus I went to two sessions that moved my spirit. One was on working with the Enneagram in prisons (female inmates) and the other focused on using the Enneagram with college students (complete with college students). Because my son is college age and knows the Enneagram well (and he is so dear to my heart), this session was very exciting.

My IEA Conference endnote - which I put a great deal of love and work into - went very well. It was about how we are all in this consciousness work together, how we need to find where our passion or inspiration comes from (often from our early stories), get over our ego-states that keep us from taking the right action, and moving forward, together. I felt extreme pleasure in the giving of it.

While I was there, I received a highly unexpected email from Claudio Naranjo (through a 3rd party) inviting me to attend and present at a psychological symposium on the Enneagram that will be held in Brazil in April 2012. Even more than surprised, I was deeply honored and excited, I could hardly contain my enthusiasm. I still feel that way.

Jamaica Bay InnFinally, I decided to do something different and interesting, which is this: I found an amazingly beautiful new boutique hotel to hold some of my programs. It is a true oasis, right on the beach in Marina del Rey, full of boats and beauty, and with incredible food and prices that are affordable. Marina del Rey is 10 minutes from LAX and 15 minutes from Santa Monica, where I live. So instead of having to travel so much for some programs, I can do them there, live in my own house, sleep in my own bed, and still provide participants with an even more stellar experience. It's called the Jamaica Bay Inn and you can go see for yourself. I'll be doing the "Coaching with the Enneagram" certificate program there in late February (come to California to get away from the cold), but also the two summer Train-the-Trainer programs, before and after the IEA Conference. The IEA Conference will be in Long Beach, but Marina del Rey is close. I will shuttle people to the conference (or back from) if needed, and participants can have a gorgeous stay throughout the T-the-Ts, even visiting Venice Beach or Santa Monica in the evenings.

Tip of the Month: Development for Tens

This is sort of a joke, and also not a joke! It's always a good idea to periodically ask yourself what you really want in your life and take some steps toward manifesting this. Here are 3 questions to ask yourself:

What are the three most important things I want in my life right now?

To what extent are these present?

What can I do to allow more of this in my life?

I actually did this for myself recently and came up with these three items: love, joy, and serenity. When I recognized that they were not present-enough in my life and asked what I could do about it, the answer was embarrassingly obvious: I am just too busy and traveling constantly.

While there are many ways to allow more love, joy, and serenity  in my life, the best way for me to allow more of this wasn't obvious. Obviously, I could cut down my office activity (but that's not realistic without other consequences that are not desirable) and cut my travel (also not desirable, since my travel all involves spreading the Enneagram, which is so important to me).

Then, the non-obvious answer became obvious: I need more vacation-time. The problem is that I travel so much, the idea of packing and getting on a plane or driving some distance was not appealing. Then, what emerged is this beautiful hotel, the Jamaica Bay Inn in Marina del Rey. It's 12 minutes from my house, feels like a wonderland of beach with healthy-gourmet food, and has the most beautiful rooms. Not only am I going to hold some of my programs there (so I can stay in my own bed!), but also plan to take mini-vacations there on weekends.

Try these 3 questions yourself!
