AT A GLANCE...
MONTHLY INSIGHT: Motivation

Gayle Hardie, a consultant, coach, and Senior Member of the Enneagram in Business Network (EIBN) from Australia, writes about the differences between intrinsic and extrinsic motivation for her monthly insight.

Motivation

Gayle's Insights about Motivation

"You are the only one who can motivate yourself. You can be inspired by others to make a difference or change what you do or how you are; however, you are the only one who can make it happen for you."

I don't recall who shared these thought with me, however they provide great insight in to why it is difficult to change - even when someone has inspired me to see the possibilities, benefits or rewards that come in doing so.

Inspiration can definitely shift our perspective; in fact we may even start down a new path as a result of being inspired. However, the habits or automated responses we have to situations, people and things are well established and well practiced, and work against maintaining this shift in the longer term.

When we recognize these habits and responses and understand their impact on us we are in a better position to take what we are inspired by and truly motivate ourselves to do something about it. Click here to read this blog.

2012 Programs of All Kinds!

2011 has been so busy, we're just now organizing the 2012 program schedule. Although none of these are yet available for registrations, this list is to give you advance notice of the various programs so you can mark your calendars or check back with us for final dates and locations.

Train-the-Trainer Programs

Both US-based Train-the-Trainer programs will be held in July 2012 before and after the IEA Conference. The IEA Conference is being held July 27-29 in Long Beach, California, with the pre-conference on July 26. Normally, the Train-the-Trainer programs are held at the exact same location as the IEA, but this year will be different. The Train-the-Trainer programs will be held in Marina del Rey, California's gorgeous beach community that's 5-10 minutes south of Venice and Santa Monica, and 40 minutes north of Long Beach. We have a wonderful, first-rate hotel right on the Marina, next to the beach, boats, great restaurants, tons of serenity, amazing organic food, and more.

We chose this location because of its beauty and conduciveness to the character of the programs, plus Ginger lives in Santa Monica and knows all the good places to go. For T-the-T participants who plan to also attend the IEA Conference, we will provide transportation to Long Beach directly after the 1st Train-the-Trainer program ends (on July 25th) and to the Train-the-Trainer location directly after the IEA Conference (on July 29th).

LAX is the closest airport for both the Train-the-Trainer programs and the IEA Conference (8 minutes from the Train-the-Trainer location).

What Type of Leader Are You? | 6 days | July 20-25 | Marina del Rey, CA

Brand New! "T-Group with the Enneagram" Certificate Programs | 5 days

March 26-30, San Francisco, CA

Two technologies - T groups and the Enneagram - combine catalytically in this first of its kind, a powerhouse way to understand self, others, personal and team development, and more.

T-Group technology was developed by NTL (National Training Labs) in the 1950s and is a unique and spectacular way to develop self-insight, give and receive feedback, learn the dynamics of how groups and teams develop over stages, and to enhance your ability to effectively influence and lead. The Enneagram is a profound way to learn about self, others, and to enhance relationships, develop teams, and more.

This program, which is endorsed by NTL, will be led by NTL members Ginger Lapid-Bogda, Pat Bido-Padva, Kathleen Brown, and Beth Applegate and is limited to 36 participants.

Attendees must either know the Enneagram (or attend a free Enneagram session the night before the actual program start), and they must be sufficiently self-mastering to handle the semi-structured, dynamic learning environment, one that fosters maximum learning in a safe environment.

"Consulting with the Enneagram" Certificate Program | 6 days

This very special program, one that is only offered every 2-3 years - uses experiential learning to teach participants (18 maximum) how to use consulting skills and methodologies integrated with the Enneagram. It really teaches consulting skills in 6 days, when most university programs take a year to fulfill. Open only to past-participants of Train-the-Trainer, "Coaching with the Enneagram," or "T Groups with the Enneagram" programs.

Dates and locations to be determined.
