Greetings!

The heart of the racehorse Secretariat was estimated to weigh 22 lbs. when he died. The legacy of this "great heart gene" can be traced back to at least 1764.
If you could weigh the heart of your story - feel its pulse in the palm of your hand - trace its genetic greatness back to the works of the authors whom you most admire, would there be a "felt" line of descent between your story and the first story you ever read as a child that made your heart race?
These are the ideas I explore in my latest essay posted at All things Literary. All things Natural. I hope you'll take a few moments to visit me there. Kate Chenery Tweedy, author of Secretariat's Meadow, makes a guest appearance as well.
