Mother's Day is just around the bend and this year's River Writing and Sculpting Journey will be here in just four months. Roxanne Swentzell, world renowned sculptor from the Santa Clara Pueblo, and her daughter, accomplished artist and writer Rose B. Simpson, will once again be my guests on this unique "Create Yourself Anew" women-only retreat. What a perfect mother/daughter adventure! Or the perfect adventure for a mother needing to get away from it all!

We get silly! We play in the river! We talk writing!

We circle up in the shade, share our stories, listen with our hearts.

Roxanne and Rose climb like mountain goats to scenic overlooks and share rare, mother-daughter time. Some of us scamper after them and share the view. We sculpt our faces in the sand, turn river clay into sculptures, and etch our smiles into each day.
