It might be spring, but NAVTA's annual national conference will be here before you know it! Put it on your calendar and don't miss out this year on any of the continuing education opportunities, professional development, meeting colleagues in the field, and fun!

The full schedule is online now; check NAVTA's website for more details. The registration and scholarship forms will be up soon, too!

Save the date: Nov. 16 to 18, 2012, in Washington, D.C.

Why be a NAVTA member?

NAVTA LogoBecause your career matters. Elizabeth N. Cavender, RVT, wrote in a recent email, "Being a member of NAVTA gave me access to a lot of resources and great CE as a technician."

Plus NAVTA offers all kinds of great benefits for members in good standing.

Including a discount on  car rentals and hotels. If you are a NAVTA member, be sure to visit the website and then call 1-800-652-5232 and identify yourself as a NAVTA member who saw this announcement in the Members Only Section of the website to receive your discount.

To see more member discounts, be sure to renew your membership and login to see other great deals (only logged-in members can see that page) just for you!

Canine and Feline Heartworm

Julie Legred, CVT, Companion Animal Parasite Council board member and NAVTA  past president, would like to hear from you. She is seeking help and input for her 2013 sessions at NAVC and WVC titled, "Top 20 Questions on Canine and Feline Heartworm." By answering questions to a brief survey, you can listen to her answers during these upcoming conferences.

Your Voice, Heard

NAVTA is enhancing our professional development opportunities. We'd love you to share your communication experience (good and bad) or share how you received professional development training. Where you learn how to best communicate in the workplace? Did you learn on the job? Through interaction with others? From a teacher or family member, while growing up? Or did you take a course, or have you taught a course?

We'd also love to know what is most important to you: What is key to good communication and professional development in the workplace? What do you need to learn to be an excellent communicator?

Please reply to sandy@navta.net with your thoughts and stories.

Read all about it in The NAVTA Journal
