Want to make a difference? NAVTA's approved veterinary assistant (AVA) review committee is looking for volunteers for the AVA sub-review committee. Haven't heard of AVA? In order to better define each member's role on the veterinary health care team, NAVTA created a veterinary assistant approval program in 2010. Schools with a veterinary assistant program are encouraged to use the NAVTA-approved guidelines when creating their curriculum and submitting their program for NAVTA approval. Once approved, graduates from these programs will be given the opportunity to take the national test. Once the person has successfully completed the exam, individuals will become an approved veterinary assistant (AVA) and be recognized for their accomplishment with the AVA designation. To better serve future AVA professionals and assist in determining criteria for the program, the sub-review committee reviews the AVA programs curriculum submissions and reports to the AVA review committee with the review findings and comparisons, according to the dedicated AVA protocol standards, requirements and essential skills list. Prospective volunteers are asked to submit and/or fulfill:
· Current resume. · Be a current NAVTA member. · 15 to 20 hours volunteered per month.
Please contact AVA@navta.net for further details. |
