The NAVTA Annual Conference took place November 18 -20, 2011. We had over a number of attendees and several exhibitors. The weekend was filled with interesting lectures on a variety of professional development topics. The Vet Tech of the Year, SCNAVTA Chapter of the Year, and SCNAVTA Advisor of the Year were awarded at the NAVTA Annual Conference on November 20, 2011. The winners are as follows:

  • Vet Tech of the Year: Josh Clark, MS, RVT
  • SCNAVTA Chapter of the Year: Lincoln Memorial University
  • SCNAVTA Advisor of the Year: Sandy Gregory, RVT

NAVTA Welcomes New Specialty!

 

The NAVTA CVTS recently announced the Academy of Clinical Pathology Technicians (AVCPT) as the 11th veterinary technician specialty. 

 

Members of the AVCPT include technicians that work in a laboratory setting, whether it is in a clinic, diagnostic lab, reference lab, research facility, government, private industry, or academia.

The NAVTA Journal is Going Bi-monthly!

   

It was recently decided that The NAVTA Journal would go from a quarterly publication to a bi-monthly journal! The first issue will be the January / February issue, and which will be hitting mailboxes on January 2.

 

With this change, members will now receive 3 CE articles per issue, equaling 18 CEs per year rather than the current 16.

Julie Legred, Companion Animal Parasite Council Board Member, is seeking help and input for her 2012 sessions at NAVC and WVC titled "Top 20 Questions on Fecal Diagnostics". Help her in getting the answers you need.

The Academy of Veterinary Technicians in Clinical Practice (AVTCP) is conducting a survey and needs your help. The purpose of this survey is to identify those tasks and associated knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for a veterinary technician to practice in the clinical setting.

Apply for the Bayer CE Program!

 

The next deadline for the Bayer Technician CE Program is December 1, 2011. Applicants must be a current NAVTA member and submit a CE quality article related to a topic in parasitology. Submissions must be emailed to info@navta.net by the deadline.

Congratulations to the ASPCA Pet Health Insurance Book Drawing Winner! 

 

 

ASPCA Pet Health Insurance, a 2011 NAVTA Annual Conference Sponsor, held a drawing for the BSAVA Manual of Advanced Veterinary Nursing during the NAVTA Annual Conference. 

The winner was Denise Moore, LVT.  She is an educator at Yakima Community College in Yakima, Washington.
