The search is on!
Greetings,
I am writing to officially kick-off the 2012 American Mothers search year. Starting now each state should begin soliciting nominations for a Mother of the Year, a Young Mother of the Year and, if they choose a Mother of Achievement. This third award category, which was approved by the National Board at our last national convention in Salt Lake City, allows us to recognize the family and community involvement of wonderful mothers from around the United States. The national office has sent out a nationwide press release announcing our searches. Locally, please feel free to complete the following steps of the search process:
Forward the followingpress release to local newspapers, civic, educational and religious groups and other mothers' organizations to solicit nominations.
Nominations received via the website, will be forwarded to the state association, if one is active, or the appropriate search chairperson.
Candidates will receive email copies of the portfolio packet to be completed.
Final portfolios/nomination packets should be submitted via email to the national office by the submission deadline of 11:59 pm on February 20th. In 2012, mail in submissions will not be accepted.
Once that date has passed, the National Search Chairs and the Awards Chair (whose contact information is below) will proceed with the search for the 2012 National Mother of the Year and 2012 National Young Mother of the Year, and 2012 National Mother(s) of Achievement and contact each of the state representatives.
Prior to and after the National convention the state presidents and/or search chair should generate press opportunities for American Mothers Inc. and the state representatives and plan visits with governors and other civic officials and other way to celebrate the selections.
Should you have questions or need further information, please do not hesitate to contact me by phone at 603-686-6373 or email at kimberleyshelton@comcast.net.
Nomination forms can be completed on our website, www.americanmothers.org.All other necessary paperwork for search chairman and nominees can be found in the members-only section.
The search process is a wonderful way for us to recognize special women and to increase the notoriety and membership of American Mothers Inc. I look forward to a successful search process and to meeting some amazing women in 2012.

Lemonade stands seem to be a rite of passage for all American children. Every year, beginning in late spring and continuing on throughout the summer, children of all ages seem to be invested at one time or another in the idea of making money from a lemonade stand....»
Fall always begins with a shotgun start. Instead of waking up to the sounds of birds chirping a summer song, fall mornings mean the incessant beeping of the alarm clock and what I call "the bedroom shakedown". In descending order of birth, I head to each of my four kids' bedrooms for morning roll call....»
A couple of weeks ago my darling daughters were not getting along. Now, I realize that with 3 children there will be times that they argue and fuss with each other. That doesn't lessen the blow to their mom, though! These are my kids...I love all of them to the end of the world... So why can't they do the same and love each other endlessly???...»
