News from CFI

Thank You Grant Funders!

CFI would like to extend our sincerest appreciation to the Cancer League of Colorado and the Colorado Ovarian Cancer Alliance for providing grant funds for low income cancer survivors to participate in CancerFit in 2012!

Fitness Coaching for Cancer Survivors Course Created

Our CancerFit master trainers developed a special one day "short course" for an organization called Team CWW.  Team CWW is a group of fitness trainers who train women for triathlons and have been chosen as the official trainers for this year's Denver Komen Tri for the Cure.   The short course is called "Fitness Coaching for Cancer Survivors" and is geared specifically to train personal trainers and coaches in what they need to be aware of when working with cancer survivors.  We received rave reviews of the course and we think that this shortened course is a great way to spread the word about working with cancer survivors to fitness coaches/trainers and other individuals who are not degreed exercise physiologists not interested in running the complete CancerFit program at a recreation center.

Sharing our Message

CFI is a proud member of the Network of Cancer Support Services (NCSS) section of the Colorado Cancer Coalition's Quality of Life and Survivorship Task Force.  NCSS organizations work together to cross market each other's cancer survivor services and so far in 2012 have shared an information table at the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's blood cancer conference, the Day of Caring breast cancer conference, the Colorado Ovarian Cancer Alliance's annual 5K run, the Red Rocks Cancer Center national Survivor's Day celebration, and will be present at the American Cancer Society's Relay for life events later this month.
