Leading the Heart of the Community in Changing Times
CPRA has joined forces with the Florida Recreation and Park Association and humanitarian and speaker Ian Hill to bring you an innovative, interactive and very timely professional development opportunity... The parks, recreation and community service sector is both figuratively and literally the heart of any community. It pumps life-giving blood throughout the community, touching in a meaningful way, every citizen. In these increasingly complex and challenging times, those in the profession must be able to lead like never before. Designed specifically for individuals in this critical sector, this year long professional journey will remind participants why we do what we do. Identifying leading edge collaborative strategies and proven concepts for building community capacity, both of which are needed to take on the challenges of today, will be discussed between live sessions.
Ian Hill, nationally known speaker and motivator, will lead participants through a series of live streaming video sessions that will provide participants with a tool to "lead the heart of your community in times of change". Sessions will be offered in November, December, February, April, May, September. In the outlying months, you will have access to continued on-line dialogue with other participants to maximize your information exchange and learning assets.
Sign up as an individual, or sign up as an agency and share the learning experience with your entire staff. A portion of your registration fee comes back to our state association. Don't miss out on this opportunity to equip you and your staff with solid relevant tools to assist you in taking on the community and departmental challenges you face today! Here is a brief video introduction to Ian and to the program. Need more information? Use these links for more about this learning opportunity -

Register 2 or more from your agency and save! Visit www.cpra-web.org for more information or to register online. Why Rocky Mountain Revenue Management School? Over the course of the past 32 years the Rocky Mountain Revenue Management School has created a legacy for itself of high quality education programs in a small student focused atmosphere. Come to Colorado to learn about cutting edge techniques in how to better manage your parks and recreation department in these times of fiscal crisis. Past students have indicated that this is the most intense and rewarding professional educational experience they have ever been a part of. Many of them have told the School's Regents that they are still using techniques that they learned at RMRMS on a daily basis. RMRMS is a two year program with an added Leadership Development Track. Delegates have the choice to register for the first or second year curriculum, with the option of combining the Leadership Track with either year. The Leadership Track may also be taken independently and does not require the registrant to have taken either first or second year tracks prior to signing up. Upon completion, you will have the knowledge to handle complex operations and develop standards of practice for any size organization. Who Should Attend? RMRMS provides targeted learning opportunities specifically for recreation directors, park directors, superintendents, camp directors, managers and all agency staff. This school if also for anyone motivated to excel in our fast paced every changing industry. Curriculum Leadership Development Track In today's fast paced competitive environment, organizations need to develop dynamic, energetic, visionary leaders at all levels of the organization hierarchy. You won't want to miss this opportunity to learn and network with some of the most dynamic leaders in our industry. First Year Track As a first year delegate, you will be taught by experienced professionals who will cover the fundamentals of planning, financial management, marketing and promotions, pricing, technology and other relevant topics. The teaching approach is designed to create networking opportunities to assist students in developing a continuing professional network. Second Year Track The second year track is designed for delegates who have completed the first year and are ready for a more in-depth and advanced study of best management practices and strategies to deal with the challenges of today's park and recreation professional. | Protect Your League This Flu Season |
With flu season here and all the attention being given to the H1N1 virus, or Swine Flu, leagues need to address how to prevent illnesses - and the spread of them - in their youth sports programs. The key is taking a proactive approach to help minimize illnesses spreading. Many resources have recently been released that provide information about influenza, as well as the H1N1 strain. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) has a wealth of information on its Web site and most school districts have released information as well. Read more...
