Developing Your Leadership Philosophy & Style
Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, 10  - 11:15 am MST,  .1 CEU

Do you need an overall understanding or grasp of leadership styles and thought?  This session aims to give you a solid 75 minute overview of leadership theory and practice.  This session will examine basic leadership styles, eight schools of leadership thought and issues such as power, leverage, influence and authority, and types of followers.  The session will challenge you to develop your personal leadership philosophy and suggest ways of improving your leadership abilities.  It is a must for all who have or are stepping into leadership roles, now or in the future.

Recognizing, Relating & Responding to Four Behavioral Styles
Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, 10  - 11:15 amMST,  .1 CEU
Do you need help dealing with different types of people?  Are you challenged by people who are aggressive, direct, talkative, lacking direction, slow to change or calculating?  The DISC Approach to Behavioral Styles has become one of the most widely used assessment and training tools in American organizations. Like other important tools, including Myers-Briggs (MBTI) and the Kolbe A. Index, DISC has its own unique place in helping to develop skills for communication, cooperation and collaboration between your employees and your clients, customers and public.  DISC identifies the behavioral characteristics of Dominant, Interactive, Supportive and Cautious styles and shows individuals how to better relate to each style for communication purposes and to respond to each style for management, negotiation, collaboration and customer service objectives. There is also an online evaluation available for an additional $15 fee to those who would like to receive a behavioral style assessment before or after the session.

Balancing Intelligent & Intuitive Time/Self Management will help you get focused, increase your productivity and improve your ability to manage distractions. This program examines the habits of productive people while showing you front-edge approaches for getting into flow, zone or optimal performance states.  You will learn ways to focus, manage your time and better deal with multitasking.

News From Aurora...
Aurora Deemed As A Top Place To Retire by U.S. News
For many baby boomers suffering the shock waves of 2008's market losses, it's so long, South Beach. Instead of retiring to Maui, soon-to-be retirees are scaling back expectations. But even though popular and pricey retirement locales may be out of reach, there are still plenty of excellent places that will tickle your fancy without busting your budget.

Hi CPRA Members,
I am a rec supervisor & member of the IL p&r association and am looking to make my position a job share for next year.  I am having a difficult time finding any examples of p&r agencies that have job share as an option for its employees.  Does your agency offer this?  Could you share the details of how it is administered (one f/t job or two p/t? how are benefits split?).  If you have a policy in your personnel manual, could you share that also? Thanks in advance for your help!
