Save Your Agency Money with the Eagle Eye Neighborhood Park Watch Program. The Eagle Eye Neighborhood Park Watch Program is a cooperative effort among park districts, forest preserves, recreation agencies, schools, local police and community residents. The program encourages community residents to assume more responsibility for the activities taking place in their own neighborhood. Residents keep watch over neighborhood parks to help make them a safe haven for youth. The repair and replacement costs associated with vandalism at Illinois park, recreation and conservation agencies can take a big bite out of budgets. Take a proactive approach to crime with the Eagle Eye program from IAPD. Since inception of IAPD's Eagle Eye Neighborhood Park Watch program 10 years ago, the Oak Lawn Park District has saved an average of $8,000 to $9,000 each year. The City of Green River, Wyoming has saved an average of 50% per year on vandalism costs - that's $40,000 per year - since implementing the Eagle Eye program. That's a lot of nest eggs thanks to an eagle! The program has proven very effective in preventing crime and vandalism in our parks. Click here to find out how your agency can save thousands of dollars in vandalism and repair costs by joining the Eagle Eye program today! |
| Information, Issues, & Ideas |
|
"3 On 3"- 3 pieces of Information, Issues, and Ideas every 3 weeks in support of parks and recreation brought to you every 3 weeks by ellenosullivan.com
- Parks and Rec: First and Front. The May 26 issue of USA Today featured community residents across the country "pooling" their resources to save summer fun. Talk about people valuing what we do and on the FRONT page of a national publication. The Living section in that same issue listed the Fittest Cities in the United States. Washington, DC was ranked first this year and the very first reason cited for why DC edged out other cities was the access to recreation centers and public transportation available in the metro DC area.
- It's Staycation Time Again! The staycation trend from last summer was due largely to the rising cost of gas, but this year it's the economy making the major impact. As we shift from going away someplace to getting together locally, parks and recreation has a BIG opportunity should they choose to make the most of it. Industry sources report increases in sales of fishing poles and backyard playground equipment as well as visits to local, regional, state, and national parks.
- Low-Cost/No Cost. Be the first in your community to create a list of positive, pleasurable, low cost and no cost recreation and play alternatives. Think biking, hiking, fishing, star-gazing, bird watching, attending free park concerts, and asking adults and children teach one another games from their respective childhoods.
