| State Parks To Make Budget Cuts |
March 23, 2009 Dear Community Leaders and Outdoor Recreation Advocates, This serves as an update to CPRA's message sent to you on March 18th that requested your help to contact your state legislators and ask them not to reduce General Fund support to Colorado State Parks, and to continue funding State Parks' operating budget at its current level. Thanks to all of you that made phone calls and sent e-mails to your legislators and to the members of the Joint Budget Committee (JBC). Unfortunately, the JBC of the Colorado General Assembly met on Friday, March 20th and voted to reduce the General Fund support to the operating budget of Colorado State Parks by $2.6 Million. As stated before, this amounts to a massive 35% cut to the General Fund amount provided for our State Parks. Dean Winstanley, Director of Colorado State Parks and the Colorado State Parks Board will be meeting during the next two weeks to determine how to best address this substantial cut to the operating budget for our state park system. Again, thanks to all of you that were able to contact your legislators to express your support for Colorado State Parks. CPRA will keep you posted on any further action we should take on this important issue during this next month. Sincerely, Stephanie Stephens, Executive Director Colorado Parks and Recreation Association |

| NRPA Youth Football Inventory Survey- Final Call |
The National Recreation and Park Association launched the NRPA Youth Football Inventory Survey in late 2006. Since that time, NRPA has awarded more than $1.6 million in funding to youth football programs thanks to the NFL Youth Football Fund and USA Football. NRPA would like to request your assistance with completing this survey, if you have not already done so. The data collection for this project ends on April 15, 2009, so time is running out for agencies to submit data and receive future funding notifications. Park and Recreation agencies that offer youth football (either directly or through outside organizations), and those agencies that DO NOT currently offer youth football programs, are asked to complete this brief survey. To complete the survey, click here.
