Issue 1 Volume 5
Greetings!

We welcome you to our June eNewsletter, Flight 24/7!!  This is the name that received the most votes.  I was pleased to see this name win, it implies that Flights are not just a 72 hour period in time, but that our Flights go on in our life 24 hours a day 7 days a week!  I hope and pray that you have found His strength, and His Peace to 'fly' in HIS Love and Grace 24/7!

This issue of Flight 24/7 has a wonderful article written by Ben Baptist and plenty of information concerning the upcoming Flights/Journeys!!  The Board's desire is to keep our community informed... PLEASE if you see an area we can improve LET US KNOW!

Finally, as we prepare to pour God's love out on a group of Young Ladies pray now that they will begin receiving even before they arrive at Stonybrook!  The Boy's Weekend is just around the corner.  Please take a moment to consider a Young Man who would benefit a weekend alone with Jesus--then consider being their sponsor!!

Have YOU Seen God Today?
By Ben Baptist

Have you seen God today?

Driving down to Athens today, I turned on the radio and heard George Strait's newest song "I Saw God Today".  Now, I don't know about you, but whenever I hear that song, I "slow down to stop and stare" just like the lyrics in the song suggest.  This time of year is the perfect time to just take in all that God has given us.  Flowers are blooming, the temperature is just starting to climb back up, the sky is cloudless on days without rain, and the late sunsets are back.  All of these things of nature are gifts from God.
I've often been challenged at various church retreats and my Chrysalis flight to slow down and appreciate all the things God has given us; this is my favorite time of year to do that.  Everything we have in our life is a gift from God.  Without Him, we wouldn't have anything--not even the gift of living.  It's always easier to talk to God when things are rough, but how about when things are going really well?  Do we, as Christians, praise God even when there seems to be nothing wrong in our lives?  Here is my challenge to you: Take a look around the next time you are outside or riding in a car and notice all the things He has given us; you'll be surprised to find how much we take for granted, I know I was.  But don't stop there, praise Him and thank Him for all He has done for you.  We all go to Him when we've had a bad day, but He expects more from us.  Go to Him in prayer when things are great and thank him for all the blessings he has bestowed upon you.  Look at it this way, one of your aunts sends you a really expensive gift for your birthday--do you say thank you or send a thank-you card?  Most  likely.  Why should thanking God be any different?  God has given us the greatest gift of all, one that deserves a "thank you" every day.  Without that "thank you", how does He know we appreciate His gift?
So, the next time you are out of the house, take a look around and notice all the places God is present.  Every flower, every bird, every tree, every drop of rain, even the great fellowship opportunity of bringing "Hoots" back is a gift from Him to us.  Notice these "God-moments" and don't take them for granted.
I'm not asking you to bow down every time you step outside; I'm only asking you to be a little more conscious of the gifts that we overlook on a daily basis.  Everyone overlooks these gifts every once and a while, but being more aware of our gifts would go a long way in praising our Father.
I hope everyone has had a safe and great year up to this point and I wish everyone a fun-filled and safe summer.  I'll see you at the next flight!
