Nurture Your Heart :: Feed Your Soul.

'To feel pain, is NATURAL. To overcome, is natural. To be loved is natural. It's the way of the way of the woman. To heal the wounds of another while you' steady nursin' your own is NATURAL. To overcome is NATURAL. To be loved, is natural. It's the WAY OF THE WOMAN'

A woman's heart is her best asset. Her capacity to love, forgive, to nurture is monumental it defies words. Like a thousand leagues beneath the sea, so are the depths of a woman's soul.

In our journey we have loved and lost. Had joys and much pain. But we ALWAYS overcome. Now it is time to redirect our course.

Descendants of slavery carry a unique soul experience; as do most oppressed souls.

While this is our heritage, this is not our legacy. We have a unique opportunity to create a fresh new, vibrant legacy for our children and our children's children. We need not be defined by that pain, by that evil.

As navigators of our destiny, we have the power to chart a new course of self-love, success, health and wealth-without shame, guilt or judgment.

Sometimes women bear the belief that it is our 'birthright' to suffer long and to endure much pain; and that we will somehow be rewarded for our sacrifice in the far off unforeseeable future. Some of us have died in that belief. We have endured selfishness from others, deceit, greed, evil, and hatred with the hopes that it will be recorded that we are 'good'.

My sister, you are worthy of love NOW. You are worthy of respect NOW, you are worthy or praise NOW. You don't owe anyone ANYTHING but to love them freely, purely, NOW. And trust, if the situation you are currently in is not honoring your gifts, KNOW that there are people and settings that are waiting to love and honor you NOW.

You were not born to live a life of deferred happiness and joy. Engage with the people and things that make your heart sing and your soul glad. Protect your heart, feed your soul with things that are life-building, love-making and happiness-bringing. Live the life our ancestors dreamed of-for us. NOW.

"When our eyes see our hands doing the work of our hearts, the circle of Creation is completed inside us, the doors of our souls fly open, and love steps forth to heal everything in sight."

-Michael Bridge

Aicha Cooper, Ms. Minnesota, Liberia Leveraging Beauty Beyond Borders

Beautiful, articulate, graceful, with a heart of gold-and a smile that lights a road for miles. Ms. Minnesota Liberia, Aicha Cooper embodies the ideals of a real beauty queen.

Through the ROC project- 'remember our children'- an organization she founded, she is demonstrating true beauty and benevolence.
Cooper hopes the new project will be able to send at least 200 backpacks filled with personal care items, non-perishable food items, toys and school supplies to orphans and underprivileged kids in Liberia. The collected backpacks and donated items will be shipped to a Liberian church at the end of January 2008.

"The average Liberian family lives on less than $1 a day. Often, children have to work to supplement the income of their parents and are forced to grow up quickly," Cooper said. "Many young girls, 15 years old and even younger, are forced into a life of prostitution to help their families survive."

The United Nations estimates that 250,000 people were killed, and 700,000 displaced, during the recently-ended 14 year civil war in Liberia. Cooper, who grew up in the midst of the war, says children were often the most impacted, being forced to serve as child soldiers or sex slaves.

ANIKA INTERNATIONAL COSMETICS salutes Ms. Cooper and her efforts to uplift the children of Liberia. In support, the ROC project is the recipient of ANIKA INTERNATIONAL COSMETICS' annual gift to a select organization geared towards the empowerment of women and youth. In addition, we will be donating 200 skin care items for the personal care packs.

Join us in February at the ROC PROJECT fundraiser. For details on the event or how to donate directly, visit www.anikainternational.com and www.aichacooper.com

It's Your Heart - Guard It With Your Life!

Making aggressive choices to save yourself

We've heard it all before...and yet, Heart Disease is one of the leading causes of death for women. So what do we need to do?

We need to take our health, our hearts and our bodies seriously. We need to accept the clear relationship between our bodies and our emotions and how each impacts each other. Mental & emotional imbalance is toxic to our bodies. PERIOD. YOU NEED TO MAKE A DECISION TO BE HEALTHY. PERIOD.

A CLEAR CHOICE NEEDS TO BE MADE:

CHOOSE to MANAGE STRESS.
How?
Make a decision-about friends, family, food, exercise...
choose the most relaxing, the healthiest, the most loving.
CHOOSE TO BE HAPPY. PERIOD.
CHOOSE to EXERCISE.
How?

15 MINS a day- to start; 30 minutes eventually.
WALK, RUN, SWIM, BIKE, DANCE. PERIOD.

CHOOSE to EAT HEALTHY.
How?

Decide what you like, learn new recipes, ask for help,
order healthier entrees, limit the grease, the salt,
the butter, the fat. PERIOD.

CHOOSE to LET GO.
How?

Don't expect an apology. forgive regardless. practice
forgiving. don't be attached to outcomes. do your best..
and let it go. PERIOD.

CHOOSE to EAT BREAKFAST (WHO KNEW?).
How?
Toast, boiled egg, yoghurt, OJ, green tea...something. Helps
with digestion, mental function, reducing cholesterol, etc

CHOOSE to CONSUMER ALCOHOL,
CAFFEINE IN MODERATION.

How?

The real question is: 'why do you need them?' then you can begin
to wean yourself off, diluting coffee or choosing half-caff, reduce
number of drinks and how often. Deal with the voids you're filling by
drinking, try not to replace with say, chocolate...although there are
some health benefits!-PERIOD.

CHOOSE to MANAGE WEIGHT, DIABETES
and BLOOD PRESSURE.

How?

Be aware of your weight, etc in relation to where
it should be and keep it there. PERIOD.

If you don't know, aren't sure, are scared or need help...

ASK SOMEBODY. PERIOD.
