The New Year always brings feelings of renewal, a chance to do things better, stronger.
New Year's resolutions to stop smoking, lose weight or make more money are meditated-or shouted- from the rooftop-as everyone dives into the New Year with renewed perspective, commitment and zeal.
I stopped making New Year's resolutions a long time ago. It seemed pointless to me, as my zeal only really lasted through the 'new week' and I was back at square 1 or worse because I'd let myself down by not reaching my goal. So I started 'coasting' into the new year; some light resolves but nothing monumental, nothing that would be too devastating if I failed, and moderately satisfying if I succeeded.
Then as I got older and clearer in my life vision and goals, I began to appreciate the need to plan ahead and anticipate needs and wants, etc. When I first got married, we used to do our goals together using a book from famed author Anthony Robbins (no relation, I wish!!). What was so cool about it was it was VERY DETAILED!!!

1. What is it that you really want in every part of your life?
2. If your life were perfect in every respect, what would it look like?
3. If you had everything that you could possibly want, what would you have?
4. If you could design your ideal lifestyle, what would it look like?
5. If you could design your ideal career, what would it be? |
