You're Invited to New Downtown Loft Series (With a Twist!)
SATURDAY MORNING CONVERSATION SERIES with...Co-Creators & Visionaries Continues... starts next week!
Talk about being unstoppable! And spirited! Even though I moved out of my loft last week - my former loft neighbor Peter Drivas stepped in. Instead of using my loft as the base for the series - we'll use his. Same building. Same locale. GORGEOUS LOFT.
So come experience re-vitalized, creative downtown LA. Have fun. Soak it all in. This conversation series is for you - the spirited co-creators of LA - to meet the leading visionaries of downtown. I'd love to see you there.
PLUS FOR SERIES' ATTENDEES ONLY. Downtown's
exquisite Gallery 1927 will be hosting an EXCLUSIVE PRIVATE PARTY the evening of May 12, in your honor, as a special kick-off party for the series. Mingle with other co-creators and visionaries and be served sumptuous appetizers and delicious wines. This alone is an incentive to sign-up.
LIMITED TO 25. The monthly 4-part series includes a buffet breakfast in my loft and then we'll have four different conversation adventures in different downtown locales.
View this as a Saturday morning salon series, but with a twist. A way to leave the world behind, and have an adventure - together.
Saturday, May 15, 10-12:30pm - LILI BERNARD
Talented artist/outspoken advocate/mother of six young kids, Lili Bernard, originally from Santiago de Cuba is changing the face of downtown's art scene through her colorful studio on Chung King Road in Chinatown. The founder of HABLA, an underground collaborative for artists of all ethnicities, Lili dedicates her art studio not only for sensational openings, but as the exhibition space for HABLA. Lili's paintings have been exhibited at the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs in downtown.
We'll take the Metro from my loft and visit Lili in her studio in Chinatown. I will interview Lili on how her passion has defined her life.
Saturday, June 19, 10-12:30pm - CIELO PESSIONE
Cielo Pessione moved from Italy to downtown for love. Famous in Italy as a fiber arts artist, designer of
wearable art & textile jewelry, Cielo's art has been exhibited worldwide. Two years ago she moved here with her daughter to marry American artist, John O'Brien, a friend she had known for 30 years! She now lives in The Brewery, one of the original art colonies in downtown where she maintains a studio and a new life. She is the granddaughter of the renowned film actor, Aldo Fabriz.
We'll be visiting Cielo at her loft/studio in the Brewery. I will interview Cielo on what it's like to leave a culture and start over in a new place.
Saturday, July 17, 10-12:30pm - QATHRYN BREHM
Downtown visionary Qathryn Brehm, moved into her first loft on Spring Street in 1979! Six years later she had the vision to move to the Warehouse District (east of Alameda, west of the LA River, between Temple and 7th Street), which is now the trendy Arts District. Formerly a prominent decorative artist, Qathryn re-trained herself in digital art. She is on the board of directors of Art Share LA, a community-based arts learning destination for local emerging and established artists.
Qathryn will take us on an "insider's" walking & studio tour of the Arts District, and introduce us to Tracy Kelly, Executive Director of Art Share LA.
Saturday, August 21, 10-12:30pm - KATE HUTTER & KAREN MACK
Changing downtown one step at a time, Kate Hutter and Karen Mack are local dynamos. Kate is the Co-founder and Artistic Director of the L.A. Contemporary Dance Company and Karen is the founder and Executive Director of LA Commons - dedicated to engaging communities in artistic and cultural expression. Both non-profits are on a mission to change community as we know it.
In my loft setting, I will interview Kate and Karen about their visionary dreams to change LA. Then, Karen will take us on a brief walk to see downtown's murals.
